A Low Hum Calling It A Day?!

End of an era people!
If you haven't made it to A Low Hum yet,
Now's your chance to make ammends!
Get off Your Chuf

Living overseas, I've never been able to see a Low Hum show, but I've enjoyed reading about them (as well as Blink's other stuff) on this site.

Why the decision to stop?

//Why the decision to stop?

I got too many awesome ideas. The monthly magazine/cd/dvd was only one concept and, haha, it ended up going on for far too long. I've set myself the target of doing something rad and different every month of 2007. I'm really sad to stop touring monthly as I'll miss seeing the wonderful people around the country who support me every month...but I'm really excited about starting these new ideas.

Fare thee well Low Hum.

Thanks for everything Blink (so far - I expect you'll have a new venture soon!) I can't remember a dud show/magazine/cd/dvd.

You are the Mike Watt of New Zealand!

Now where are those tour diaries eh???

xx

// Now where are those tour diaries eh???

haha. I thought I was a machine and would be able to crank them out each month ontop of all the rest of the stuff...but, yeah, it got to be too much I've still got tapes and tapes of footage...but I'm thinking about just making a series of shorter diaries over summer or making one big long 1 hour type thing. dunno yet.

haha, and cheers for the support...even from overseas.

Man, blink, yesterday I totally found ALH CD 6 in Lower Hutt Sallies. That's kinda crazy.

Blink totally rules. respect to that humungus amount of effort and energy put into ALH. I know I could never do that!

Indeedy... ALH has been a fantastic one-person crusade for the Real Alternative of NZ (and beyond) music. I was gonna say he was like a Roger ("Flying Nun") Shepherd for the new millenium but a comp CD a month for pretty much 2 years plus 3 Video collection DVDs, at the same time as touring bands from North to South is in a whole new league of borderline obessive compulsiveness for sharing the music he likes with other open-eared souls around the country. So many great bands heard through those CDs and live shows so a big THANK YOU Blink.

Hopefully the loyal ALH supporters will be signing up for next year's equally inspired/ crazy schemes (singles club, music camps, whatever else comes along) and keep this thing Humming along for a while yet.

Blink you rock!

Indeed, awesome work Blink. I have far from got every issue, but what I have seen/read/listened to has been brilliant.

ah shit.

well would it be polite to scrap your brains Blink?

i stated up a topic on punkas trying to get people to put down their ideas and expereiences of organising tours in the attempt to compile a collection of people's techniques, for anyone that wants to put on a tour, and for myself and my own band...

anyways, good job on organising some rad tours and shows dude, hope your future projects go well

no sweat. Is this "grave dancer" from punkas?

just check out this link: http://www.nzmusic.com/topic.cfm?i=16666&start=1

download "Local knowledge" - the guide i published to touring. Issue 1 avail. Issue 2 being worked on and out early/mid next year.
