Flying Nun boxset

Heard about this in the NZmusic email. Anyone got any thoughts or reviews? Doubt I can afford it, looks decent though. Maybe could have done with a DVD to round it off.

Forums: NZ Music,

ordered mine as early xmas present to meself

got all but maybe two of the tracks already and think it well over priced but like my Skeptics box set i expect to cherish this for many years to come and laugh at them that decided not to buy it only to regret their decision

I so wish these sorts of things were vinyl not shitty CD

don't need it nor want it but must have it :)

Yes - must also have it, although not sure I really need it. Throwing the DVDs in the box would have been a nice touch too, but I guess it's a big enough already to use as a doorstop down at the bach...and if you are reading this, have a listen to the Over The Atlantic album for no reason other than you should.

Fly-screen door

Bach or beach-house (Northland colloq.)

bach or crib

who can afford doors?

I'd like this too. Hmm... but as a poor and currently jobless student, I may struggle.

Incidentally, is Flying Nun still independent? It got bought by one of the majors a couple of years ago, didn't it?

Nope, the nun is now owned by Warners Music one of the big four multinational record companies

Sucks, don't it?

You may be interested to know there's a rather lovely Special Edition Real Groove coming out at the same time which is covering all things Flying Nun, along with tons of interviews done with the big names way back when. Hooray!

Picked this up, and it's a pretty decent effort. I would love to be able to enter that comp where you identify all the different letters, but my collection just ain't up to the task, and it would take a hell of an internet search to manage it.

I did bristle somewhat at the Headless Chickens direction after McDonald left being labeled "not totally successful" ... maybe not commercially, but Greedy is the peak of their form, in my book!
