Music week, NZ on air "phase five" CD

I'm listening to it now, track 8 Brooke fraser's playing, I'm going to have to listen to it again tomorrow to have any real appreciation of the CD, as I'm on my 4th rather large Rum and coke ... got distracted .. it's now playing Minuit, track 12 and the last one on the CD ! everything I've heard so far sounds okay, liked Nesian Mystik, even thou it's not normally my cup of tea sounds great ... that Sarah brown's voice kinda suites her layed back style, and after a few drinks it sounds great :-) ! .. I'll report back tomorrow on the rest .. :-) ... drink on it's Friday :-))))

Forums: NZ Music,

Right Saturdays hangover's gone and it's Monday morning and I'm listening to the CD again, truth of the matter is, I can't be too critical, as i've always said, I'm no muso and I don't have an ear for the finer details an engineer or producer may well pick up. So can only really go on what I like as far as ease of listening goes. I like the sound of Evermore, like the intro and the vocal's good, an nice lite song. Connan and the mockasins, retro sounding, great summer song I think, like the guitar. Sarah Brown, not drunk anymore and no hangover and I still like this one, salutry, images of smoke filled rooms come to mind, relaxing and chilled. The Tutts, reminds me of something, but can't put my finger on it, catchy tune tho .. it's the backing vocals which sound familiar I think. Shaky hands, a sit up and take notice song, a song that drives it's self along nicely .. alittle madness maybe ..??. 48may, like it, lead vocal sounds like a bloke I know over here, the song's got a nice full sound to it. Nesian Mystik, already commented on this above, and again I still like it, I could see this being played cruising an LA beach highway. Brooke Fraser, again reminds me of something, like it tho, not sure if I've heard it before .. it's ringing bells. Steriogram, catchy, punchy. The mint chicks, great catchy song, like the vocal, short song tho. Dimmer, like it again chilled summer song to me. Minuit, not normally my cup of tea electronica, but this seems to move along at a nice pace and wouldn't sound outta place in any london club. Just one thing some of the tracks sounded .. maybe ... a bit thin if that makes sense.
Well I'm no journalist, and curtainly no music critic, so the above obviously is my take on things, maybe I should hold my thoughts to my self as mansion said, incase I get a bout of self importance :-) It's a good showcase CD of NZ music, quite a variety and hopefully will land in the laps of those who can move things along abit, and maybe something good will come of it for some people.
