wow, don brash just resigned. I almost feel sorry for him after the roasting he got from Noelle on bFM this morning. Maybe that was the last straw; she asked about a leadership change during the bollocking & even then he was insistent he wasn't going to step down.

almost feel sorry for the guy? the guy ...
almost feel sorry for the guy? the guy has been sodomised in ever orifice and pore by the media and you kind of feel sorry for him
and i guess it's just a 'kinda' because he commited some of the old adultery
i'm sure he's the not only member of parliament putting the stones to someone behind his spouses back. the character assisnation that's been performed on him has done no good for new zealand and rather than being wankers to the poor dude noone seems to think about how it would affect their own lives if they were in a similar situation. instability in the opposition party only means that the standards required of the labour party are lowered and hence standards of the new zealand government are and have been lowered by this scandal.
not because he shagged another woman. shagging another man/ woman has absolutely no bearing on how well the country can be goverened.
but because he has been forced to resign, by a media bent on destroying the only semblance of an opposition to the one party totalitarian direction new zeland is headed in
the fact is simply that the new zealand is now more shittily goverened because the opposition which is in place to act as a reality check for the governing parties has been shafted and undermined by what can only be illegal, ultimately on the coat tails of what is simply new zealand's sexual archaism
victims of crime?
fuck them
callousness and shortsightedness defend new zealand
o and mansion, geoff workman whatever your name is
fuck off

FWIW I don't really give a flying monkey's about sexual misconduct. He can sort that one out with his wife.
The grilling Noelle gave him was the standard stuff, but from what he said I think she was attributing some dishonesty to him that doesn't exist - I think circumstances have simply conspired against him, hence the comment about feeling sorry for him. I said "almost" because I think he's *consistently* had circumstance conspire against him, and he's handled it badly. He's not a good spokesperson for the national party, lurching between patronising and inexplicable. The stuff I've heard from both John Key and Bill English in the last year suggests to me that there are far sounder leaders in that party. I'm still voting Greens, but if John Key takes over I won't be nearly as disappointed if the national party gets into government next time.
I agree that sexual misconduct doesn't ...
I agree that sexual misconduct doesn't mean too much when it comes to how to run a coutnry - look at Bill Clinton for example. However, DBs continual problems when it comes to embarrassing himself and his party ie denial of Exclusive Brethren links etc have caused issues to the National Party. Every time they seem to be holding an advantage over Labour, they get pegged back due to his bumblings.
John Key will be a very good leader of the opposition, probably a bit naive politicially, but hopefully he will have a good caucus around him that supports him fully.
Michael Cullen will need to watch out too, Key is pretty clued up financially as well. I always get the impression when I see Cullen talking that he thinks he knows it all, he reminds me of the kid in the class who always puts their hand up to answer a teachers question to prove their superior intellect.

but libertarian is about personal choice. that's what differentiates it from classical right-wing. So on that basis you'd expect personal choice to prevail on prositution, civil unions etc. And it doesn't. Instead he's just economically liberal.
yeah well the economy and personal gain ...
yeah well the economy and personal gain always takes precedence with these people over moral values. Just look at John Banks, as socially conservative as it gets, yet he wanted to join act who stand for free choice with regards to abortion and civil unions.
