Forums: The Bar,

I played on most of them after officiating David Niven's wedding.

I made my parents five CDs filled with the "Best of Rolling Stone's Top 500" songs for last Xmas - they seemed pretty chuffed with them.

There's a hot tip for the poor amongst you.

just personal opinion and all but Smells Like Teen Spirit at 9th place seems to be way to high & looks out of place along side the songs in the top 10

oh and I'd have sitting on the dock of the bay alot closer to the top 10 than 28

and Elvis only just makes it into the top 20 at 19 ??. . . . . come on, All Shook Up should be in the top 10

What about Destiny by Death

or Audioslave.

no "Give 'em a taste of Kiwi" even.

anyway everbody should know, that the top 12 of that list is as follows:

1- Welcome To The Jungle - GNR
2- It's so Easy - GNR
3- Nightrain - GNR
4- Out Ta Get Me - GNR
5- Mr. Brownstone - GNR
6- Paradise City - GNR
7- My Michelle - GNR
8- Think About You - GNR
9- Sweet Child O' Mine - GNR
10- You're Crazy - GNR
11- Anything Goes - GNR
12- Rocket Queen - GNR

Shouldn't number 1 be
Cherry Pie By Warrant

no, that would just be silly . . . .

I think 12. is much better than 1.

//anyway everbody should know, that the top 12 of that list is as follows: //

bogan

can't believe you put out to get me at 4, that'd definietly be lower down for me

Who the hell comes up with these lists anyway?

I mean, these lists don't CHANGE anything and are highly subjective anyway. Personally I think "You Can't Always Get What You Want" is a much better song than the idiotic "Blue Suede Shoes" (I mean, that song is *LAME*) . But no, some magazine DECIDED, you see...

And how is it that The Greatest Songs Of All Time only started being written somewhere in the 50s anyway?

*blergh*

Or you could just take lists like these with a grain of salt. Its not worth getting worked up about really, just a bunch of people deciding what their favourite song is. (tho having said that, I think I may have spent a while debating this exact list with friends when it was first published.

Right. If you start looking for faults in these lists, you'll go mad. For instance, there are glaringly obvious points like, no Mozart or Beethoven in an "all time" list? And why is the list limited to songs in English?

Nah, these lists are just a way to compare your own tastes with others'.

What a lame arse list, what a load of crap, basically choose the "important" songs from the important mainstream artists that "changed the culture". Boring...

I gotta admit feeling the same way. I mean was this chosen by retired people or what? Are these really the best songs made by human kind to date?

Conveniently for Rolling Stone Magazine Inc the top song is what they based their name on.

yeah bro...haha, i started a forum about this two years ago:

that rolling stone thing is pretty lame.

¿why?

Here's a new take on the "greatest ever" list. A photo essay.

I like the Q top 100 of all time (in the October issue) better, although they're voted for by the readers which means that Oasis are in the two top spots.

Jo, I love it that you take the time to italicise Q.

Thanks! It's my most favourite of magazines, so I gots to show it the respect.

i own all 500- except for the crap ones of course
