Mother Guru

Hey, there's nothing on Mother Guru here! I saw them @ the BDO and they went off! Some info on these guys would be good

Forums: NZ Music,

o how i have waited for this day - 'my' band being asked about, so i can tell wonderful stories of my days and nights listening to their crankin, original rock.

anyway, theyre from nelson, been together about 3 years. enthusiastic supporters of all the local musicians (including myself). they've played at some reasonably big gigs like sand'pit (supporting stellar, zed etc; in my opinion they're better than both bands) and the national rockquest final as a guest band, but i'd say that bdo would have been the biggest.

there's a cd on the way, but they keep on going back and redoing it because every time they record, their songs develop in a wonderful way just afterwards and the recording starts to sound crap in comparison.

if you ever hear the name 'motherguru' bandied around, listen in because if you're a rocker, there's nothing better than a live gig.... they rival the legendary shihad in the live energy stakes.

add to the fact that theyre damn nice guys with positive lyrics, how could you NOT take them home to mummy?

guitar girl, how many people were watching them at bdo? i hope they got a big crowd.
the website is sorta under construction, so don't expect anything special.

ciao

hey jimi, thanx for the info. they had a pretty good crowd, maybe 600+ people. i couldn't be too sure coz i was right at the front enjoying every second! Because they were playing early (11:30) there werent too many people there yet, i think they would of had a huge crowd if they played later on. they rock!!!

couldn't check these guys out at BDO thanks to Tickettek and their "pick the ticket up with hundreds of other people". Bugger, didn't get in till about 12.

i just saw them play about..3 hours ago.. wicked stuff, these guys know how to rawk, it wouldve totally gone off if there were more people tho.. oh well, very rockin stuff :)

yeah this is cool..... they are planning to go to melbourne soon, i think due to their lack of exposure here. this seems to be changing..... but i wonder if everyone who saw these guys or have heard from other people that they were good (great even) could write exactly what they think or heard, and i'll pass it on to them - hopefully prevent yet another addition to the 'band drain'?

When i saw them they were VERY FAR from even touching shihad's sweat cloth.

Id LOVE to see them one day, come to Chch boys. HI MUZZY, hope the Big Nite After was good...see you on Wednesday? Are you coming to Parachute the whole time? ha ha we got mentions for saying (rubicon ) @ the end of our posts...

is guitar-girl coming to parachute?

Hey!! Nahh im not going for the full time.. but ill be there for sunday.. steriogram.. woo.. tim gave me all the details.. yes, we rawk (mentions..:P) ohh i cant wait to see mother guru again!! they were so cool!! i wanted to talk to them after but i couldnt find them.. but yeah.. yay :P

Nah, im not going to parachute. I used all my $$$ at the Big Day Out.

jimi, pass all this stuff on to the guys. they have to know how much they rock and that they have a huge number of fans. write heaps of stuff everyone!!

I saw 'em at the Rockquest final. They were damn good.
Unfortunately I missed them at the BDO - I arrived late.

I hope that they don't move to Aussie. I can understand why they'd want to - I just hope that they don't go through with it....
