inappropiate comments - Scribe

does anyone else think scribe showed complete ignorance and arrogance with his Ahmed ZAOUI/ AlQueda dig at the music awards?

interesting behaviour coming from someone who was partly responsible (with a MR PNC) for putting, 1. Mr P. Armstrong in hospital with a broken mouth and causing however many thousands of dollars damage, and months of lost work, and whatever else it caused..

clean up your own backyard before you go knocking on your neighbours door!

Forums: NZ Music,

I caught the soundbite on Nightline?
truly cringeworthy.

still, it's a staple of Christchurch "Musicians" to go putting there Foot squarely in their mouths eh?

he was being sarcastic- making a comment on the powers that locked him up- hm- but i guess you know that- you were tryin to catch people like rdor out- &- uh- now ive blown it- erm- sorry

a brilliant performance then.
thanks for explaning it.
when does he join Voom?

wouldnt know- ive been out since just before they turned into a comedy outfit

what I meant was a terrorist shouldnt point the finger, or pass judgement.

Has anyone mentioned in this thread attacked a civilian target in order to effect a political change?

Scribe was the highlight of the music awards. It was actually hilarious at the time, albeit a little on the chin. He also kept asking Brooke Fraser if she had won this award or that award, to which she was forced to reply "Ah no I think that was you...." and he would go "oh yeah, I won that one too, when NZ music was at its peak". I don't know if he was completely taking the piss out of himself or what but it was fucking funny as.

Yup, the guy cracked me up, though I think that thing with the Single of the Year was stupid of him - "Bleeders, ya reckon? Do I hear $20 for Pluto on this side?" - only in NZ :)

I think it was more a shot at Dobbin than Zaoui, and for that I think I'll side with Scribe. Dobbin, in his video "Welcome Home", is preachy, condescending, self-rightious and promoting a political agenda. The whole clip looks like a Labour campaign, and using Zaoui, who at the time was a pretty hot issue, leaves the door open to feedback, pleasent or otherwise. Inappropriate or not - that's a matter of taste and values. Fact remains, Scribe has every right to speak his mind. And if that bothers you, you can always join AlQuaeda, they're not too fond of Freedom of Speech themselves :).

¿what?

I think Gibbis means that he/she is slightly racist, not a fan of Dobbyn, possibly a National or Winston Peters voter. And slightly ignorant to the Al Queda situation. Which is, that Al Queda doesn’t exist, it’s a media/government fabrication to point a finder of blame at. Tony Blair even said in a speech once that Al Queda is not a gang or group. Thus, I cannot be part of something which doesn’t exist.

Also FREEDOM of SPEECH. What does that mean to you? Does it mean that it’s okay for you to tell that obese woman in the McDonalds queue that she is fat and should be there, and why doesn’t she go buy some lettuce? Does it mean you should honk your horn and swear at bad asian drivers?

Or is it more in line with having a say in your community? Or telling the factory down the road to stop dumping oil into the river? Or telling the hip hop scene that fake American accents aren’t that cool anymore?

Tell me your definition please?

Right then:

A - I voted Labour
B - I'm not a racist. I hate all people equally, regardless of sex, religion or race :).

You think AlQuaeda'a made up?
Fair enough. Nothing wrong with a paranoid conspiracy theory. Hey, I'm a proud paranoid myself :).
Better be careful though, the FBI might be using this website to alter your brain wave pattern, in their quest to make NZ their next nuke testing grounds :).

Oh, and Freedom of Speech is exactly what it is, including making fun of fat people in KFC or at skinny people Laxative World (ughh..). As long as it's not slander or breaking confidentiality agreements, it's legal.

You're getting worked up over nothing, you should really save yourself.
Relax, have a cuppa :).

bascially you don't have freedom of shit, but you are entitled to some special privileges somewhere along the line if i recall rightly.

freedom's a very empowering word though

gotta agree with White Rhino on this one JL - I was there and thought Scribe was feckin funny last week, he could have a career as a Stand Up for sure (haha!).

I'm sure Mr Zaoui would get the gag. the other digs were pretty hilarious too - wonder if he was gettin philosophical on our asses with the NZ music zenith angle? or more irony, more likely...

yeah Scribe was there when PNC bashed Phil, just another case of folks not handling their liquor... why's it always the ones who shouldn't drink who get the most pissed? (and why did Allah make Samoans so big? never noticed what a large unit Scribe is till I saw him on stage dwarfing Brooke and everybody except big Ollie)

;-)

the fact that it was a highlight to a lot of people is more of a reflaction of how dull the whole thing was generally.

if scribe was being ironic or making a joke of the opposite, he wouldnt have directed the humour at Ahmed, it would have been directed at Labour, Dobbyn, or the court system. or something else.

and yes - he is a big boy.

scribe's an idiot, but holy shit you whine a lot

haha, excellent. sorry about that!

:D
