CHANNEL Z IS BACK?

im proud to say that over some time now (reason y i havnt been on here in ages) is that i myself and another associate are in the works with radioworks for buying the rights to channel z.

i stress we ARE NOT the people that made the bringbackz.co.nz campaign which was an empty cause. we have got the radio gear and we have the experience on board with us.

already own and run 102.5 on the westcoast. YES we are keeping the old z formatt of playlist, YES we are changing the look SLIGHTLY and YES there will be new hosts.

my associate is in greymouth at the moment and will be here in auckland soon. once here we will be broadcasting auckland, then wanting to move to its origin welligton and so forth. yes there will be online streaming after a while. no we are not been funded by some huge corporate comapny, this is starting from scratch.

have already talked with ex hosts and they are happy with what we are doing, have steriogram behind us too and have the z name on the nz zombiewalk which is to be held in auckland, queen st, 8pm halloween.

please visit us and add: http://www.myspace.com/channelznetwork
this myspace page is what we are using to get the word out before we go online, it has up todate BDO announcements and we have alot of contacts in music.

Forums: NZ Music,

hey you guys should start playing good music.

just thought i'd put that out there

ok lets hear your suggestions? we are open to all and accept anyones opinion

If you ever get going and are looking for a host with NO PREVIOUS EXPERIENCE ... then I am your man haha.

//the old z formatt of playlist

When you say the old z formatt (sic) of playlist, exactly which old format do you mean? Wellington in 1996? Auckland in 1998? Christchurch? Diver, Godwin, Clamp, Ridler, Schzusterman? And if you're going for a particular era - Brit pop, Nu Metal, skater, whatever - is that genre still going to have resonance?

Joanna, we will be taking on the most recent music format BUT it is going to be stretched with alot more infulence of the original channel z music play list. We are taking on any kiwi bands that want some air play including some that aren't as 'channel z' such as some metal bands and a little more dance, techno.
Have just signed deal with Warners and at the moment approaching other record companys.

//We are taking on any kiwi bands that want some air play

...dude, isnt that the role of kiwiFM? Thats lame man, if you play any old piece of shit you get sent, sooner or later (sooner my guess) you'll become irrelevant.

//Have just signed deal with Warners and at the moment approaching other record companys.

so you're trying to whore yourselves out as soon as possible? sorting payola schemes before you've even left the west coast?

if you'd said "wellington 96" then i may have been interested. but NO. you didn't. boooooooURNS

Yeah,
Have you guys considered Alcohol sponsorship

ahahaha!
and yes, i agree lucy. John Diver is one of the unsung heroes of the music industry of the 90s.

I thought that station had a potentially large audience that last time it was on

what is your background bringbackz?

could you give us a sample playlist for say a typical wednesday afternoon 1pm till 2pm.

Good luck I say. Might not be everyone's cup of tea (as has been demonstrated by those who've already written it off while still in development stages), but no radio station is ever going to please everyone. At the end of the day, these guys are taking some initiative and starting up their own version of the station, which essentially means they can do whatever they like format wise. Starting up a radio station is a huge risk, resurrecting one is probably just as risky so it's a gutsy thing to attempt.

I'm not saying everyone should be all "great guys, can't wait", but I don't reckon they owe any of us anything either. If they get it right it'll float, if they don't it won't.

"If they get it right it'll float, if they don't it won't."

hehe, obvious statement of the year? ;)

too many radio stations in auckland already... ugh, i won't comment otherwise, people who remember me probably know my opinion on radio

Yeah I know it's obvious, that's kinda the point. You know, as in - we can speculate all we like, but we'll have to wait and see.

I hope it goes well, and plays some decent stuff as well ... I'm not sure how successful it will be, given all the different formats that Channel Z tried in it's time, none of which seemed to make any money.

But good luck anyway.

...........anyways

More inspired input...

Your point?

sorry, was more in response to ms yee's comment.

it goes without saying that it'll either succeed or fail :S

but if anyone else is making predictions, my money is on this only being able to develop a small listenership.

actually, is kiwi fm still on? i've paid so little attention to it lately, but i remember people mumbling about the director or whatever, dropping it
