2006 APRA Silver Scroll Award Finalists Announced

Forums: NZ Music,

Two nominations for the Don? Personally I thought 'This is London' was the best song of that album.

And nice work from James Milne.

Good to see the judges going for a 'natural elements' theme this year: 'pool', 'river', 'sun', 'hill'.

'Stolen Hill' is an absolutely gorgeous song, but I think I'd put 'In the morning' up there instead for sheer story-tellingness. I think it manages to describe and capture the many very mixed emotions of the circumstances perfectly. But perhaps it's too (oooh) controversial and 'Stolen Hill' as a love song has a wider appeal. I love the way that the whole album is just a great big picture of falling in love. Also: imagining the two of them together = hott.

And err, by 'hott' I mean of course "inspiring, beautiful and I'm not being at all lecherous about this, really, it's just nice that talented creative people can get together". Honest.

Have to piggyback off Noizyboy and say "kudos" to James Milne and of course Don McGlashan. Have loved This is London since I heard it way back in 2002, but Bathe in the River is a departure (thanks in large part to Hollie Smith's vocals).

GO JAMES!!!!!

he is the best... he should win....
