NZ lotto ripping off Sigur Ros?

haha.

boy what a surprise i got when i thought that Sigur Ros might have licensed a track to Lotto in NZ, upon closer listening, realised that they did their clever old "change the song just enough so that maybe nobody realises" but don't have to pay to license.

The track, "Hoppipolla" off Takk..haha, The Lotto ad is basically identical to the piano/orchestral part... or maybe i got the track confused..i only saw the ad once, but its def a sigur ros song.

anybody else seen that ad?

Forums: The Bar,

Seen it and I agree. It's really sick too - the song (the real one) is such a celebration of life and to use it to sell dreams of large sums of money to poor people is about the worst possible thing that could happen. I wonder if their label knows about it? It's quite obviously ripped off.

Just found this:

"So you'll be keeping your vow to not allow your music to sell cars and the likes on telly adverts?

"At least adverts. We can't do that. But people change. People get softer as they get older, don't they? People are full of statements and then twenty years later are playing the same as everybody else, so you never know. I feel strongly about this, though, yes."
