I've been meaning to ask foetus

How's the amp going, did it make the trip home safe and sound ? did Richards temp repairs hold out ? I only remembered when Richard mentioned he's going to be working on one of his old boss's guitar rigs. The board seems quiet now a days, guess people have moved onto myspace ??

Forums: The Bar,

i'm here, and always enjoy reading your posts, the holiday sounded ace

Glad there's still someone around .. :-) even at 4.27 am !!! as for my post's mate .. they're just run of the mill crap .. :-) but i enjoy posting. I'd like to post alot more about music, but don't ... despite working where I work ... know too much about it, as in I can't be too picky about things .. not being a muso myself .. I can say, oh that'll sound great with a trumpet of the 2 2 4 beat's the best .. or what ever, and I can't or won't post anything about our clients as it's not too professional. thou I have made two mistake post's one of which was pulled up by a senior music exec and another I got edited before anything was, I hope spotted. I also try not to name drop, thou I have mentioned a few names in the past, but don't want to come across as a blow hard name dropping wanker everytime I post :-) .. once in awhile's fine .. but not all the time .. :-) !

Oh yeah, the holiday .. if your ever over this way .. highly recommend it, it's a lovely place... have you ever been over to europe .. ?

yeah i went to europe a few times when i was still working. but never made it far east. always fancied i'd lose my virginity in europe but my english wasn't up to much at the time, which has always been a major regret. so i missed that boat. but especially interested in the eastern europe, and especially the czech republic. i'd like to do it as a road trip.

Yeah eastern .. though I can't say that to Alice, she calls it "central europe" :-) .. but yeah eastern europe's great, in my early days of being here I went to East germany .. a year or so after the wall came down, then onto Poland, where we encountered dirty fuel, think it was a mix of petrol and deisel or something the likes of ..!! so only spent a day or so there, then onto Hungury, and czechoslovakia as it was then, they'd just got independence from Russia, and it was just before czech and slovakia split .. it's well worth t trip around if you can ever do it .. and as for the language barrier .. well that's just something we all have to deal with a some level or another when we travel .. happens to us all .. :-)

//guess people have moved onto myspace ??

Death first! I haven't posted much lately because I only seem to have snarky things to say lately, and there's that whole "if you haven't got anything nice to say..." thing, except that I don't always win against my fighting not to say bad things. I need a holiday.

// //guess people have moved onto myspace ??

// Death first!

heh. indeed. I think the ongoing server sickness it taking its toll as well. there is light at the end of the tunnel, however.

The fact the the same letterbox lambs ad that has been up for a year is, more often than not, the first thing that I see also adds to a sense of wandering through a wasteland.

//The fact the the same letterbox lambs ad that has been up for a year

Once you buy that album you get a new ad...

// The fact the the same letterbox lambs ad that has been up for a year

aha! we were discussing that the other day. there's a bit of sentimental attachment to that ad around the morse media offices.

ah yeah, the server, it's taken me all morning to get connected if I hadn't been at work I'd have given up and found something else to do ... but being at work with nothing else to do means I can come back and try again and again :-) and as for myspace, a few of my mates have pages and tell me I should get one too, one day maybe but to be honest I like what gose on here and I have no idea what I'd put on a myspace page .... and Joanna nice quote from bambi .. thumper wasn't it ..?? :-)

I can't seem to think about myspace with regard to what services it offers me, only what its end function is - a data-mining service for the Fox Network and a means to generate income for them. Makes it really off-putting and I've made something like a vow to never sign up. I also hate the way "social networking" for those artists involved is generally out and out pimping. Feels kinda dirty in the same way Amway, Landmark forum, etc. do...

I'm into myspace - lets me hear all sorts of people's music, that I wouldn't otherwise get to hear. Wonderful!

Well, that's only true because people have chosen to use myspace over the many other services that have come and gone or are still around... It's the popularity of the site that makes it seem better or more appealing than others. In my EVER SO HUMBLE opinion. :)

And to be a little more constructive, one example that I think does something a little similar in the music-hunting / discussing vein is last.fm ... artists can put their music up for free, edit their artist info, etc. and there are many different ways to try to find new music, including discussing it with other site users.

I had a look at that link, thanks Jet. It's just a personal preference.

Hey man, the temp repairs have held out, verb and trem still work wonderfully, but my dad (a technician) had a look inside with the multimeter and did some tests last weekend- apparently the transformer is only supplying about 1/2 the correct voltage to the power amp valves, 260v instead of 400 - 450v (mention this to Richard and he'd probably nod knowingly). Totally explains the low headroom and limp tone when it's wound up. Sooooo I'm gonna have to track down a new one for it. Not looking forward to the bill for this at all, but it really has to be done...

RE quiet on the boards- yeah, but in my case I have the best excuse- I can't piss around on the net all day with my current café job, and when I get home it's all about the job hunt. I really must get back to it actually... nothing to do with a certain NZMer's continuously depressing posts, not naming names... but you probably know who I'm talking about, eh? Leave it at that... ;-)

Yeah, no names needed .. :-) Glad the "temp" repairs are holding out, Richards off for a few days soon, he's off to work for his old boss ( Mike oldfield ) he's sorting out his guitar rig or something like that. Goodluck with the job hunt mate, sure something will pop up, guess one of the perks of the job at the coffee place is you can drink heaps of the stuff and be buzzing when you get home full of energy for the job hunt .. :-).

Just shown Richard your post, he can't really remember anything without the schematics. ( if you want to e-mail them to me that's fine ) but I'm sure your father knows what's what anyhow. Good luck and hope it dosen't cost too much to sort out ..
