Pink's new video - an Illicit Marty Emond ripoff?

I saw Pink's U and Ur Hand video today, and I don't know if it's just my imagination, but does she really resemble certain Illicit tshirt illustrations at times? (the rockerbiker chick in the leather and helmet, Rolling Baby Redknuckles with the short hair and red lollipop...). I really want to know the story behind it; a video director's homage to Emond? Strange coincidence? Breach of copyright? I can't seem to google myself any answers...

Forums: The Bar,

video's here for anyone interested.

you may find that that style of drawing is not unique to Martyn. Just made popular here by him and others.

Thanks for that startling revelation. You may find that it turns out I was right:

"Some of you might have spotted the Illicit influence on the new Pink video "U + Ur Hand" Well you'd be right! Seems whoever "styled or created" the video has obviously come across our favorite son Marty Emonds artworks and "Borrowed"... Rockerbikergirl, HardCandy and Baby Redknuckles. Hard to know weather to laugh or cry really.

As we all realised Marty was well ahead of everyone in creating new looks and characters!!! At least its not Britney Spears huh!?"

Cosmic Slop's text comes from the Spare Room blog, which does indeed have rather damning evidence of intellectual property theft.

As is pointed out in the comments, it's not even subtle. They've gone to quite some lengths to actually make Pink up to be the exact characters Emond drew. Crazy.

and anyone wanting to add their two cents to the official Pink forums is encouraged to do so...

Noizy I love the way you fight the good fight all over the interweb.

truth and justice.

the american way - not so much.

I have no idea why I'm writing this, but I think Cosmic Slop was actually quoting the Illicit website, which is also quoted on that blog. Likewise the same pictures and Youtube link are there?

Local blog - an Illicit ripoff? ;)

Particularly the inclusion of the weird figure on the punching bag seemed too similar to me..

// I think Cosmic Slop was actually quoting the Illicit website

indeed. found that link while I was browsing the Pink forums too.

what I can't understand is that, despite the overwhelming evidence, some of the Pink fans are still denying any wrong-doing has been done.

and ditto to the punching bag. that's the total clincher, really...

Funny to see the Pink fans defending their idol. A particular favourite...

I really don't see it. How predictable is that fucking chorus? Man, try harder pop song writers. Same same, over and over and over forever until every single song goes VI, IV, I, V. Fuck that.

It's pop. It's not meant to be ground-breaking experimental journeys into sound. It's just Pink singing about how kick-arse she is. If anything, the notable thing is the allusion to masturbation. Since when did pop singers tell their lamer boyfriends to piss off and have a wank?

I remember a few years ago (late '90s?), a video for pop group En Vogue bore a startling resemblance to a fashion shoot that had previously appeared in The Face magazine. I believe an agreement was reached between the two parties.
