riki and neil together certainly seems like a tasty prospect, but even if Nick is involved would they really call it Crowded House?
Would that be insulting to Paul, or honouring him? What ever the case, the band would obviously never be the same without him but will surely be a new and exciting project.
I think they could do it, remembering Hester left the band after the last album and they toured for quite a while with the drummer from Nick Seymour's other band (I have vague memories of 91ZM running a "be crowded house's new drummer" kind of competition, am I imagining things?) - Hester returning for the last gig.
Whether it would honour him or not remains to be seen. They didn't make it to the funeral, so maybe this is their way of making up for it? Riki does seem to be the 'Maori du jour' these days - and rightfully so, he's a great drummer!
The whole sad affair has been pretty undignified - the latest being the 'fiance' contesting for more of his estate etc. If the rumours are true, I hope they do right by Paul Hester.
Man. I'm still reeling from there being a Split Enz reunion and no NZ dates to the tour. I don't know if my old heart can handle this constant teasing/disappointment.
I'd be extremely happy if there was a CH reunion show. Maybe in a couple years? Very much looking forward to the dvd of the Farewell To The World show.
