Over the past week I’ve really noticing how much the Canadians like our music as opposed to the rest of the northern hemisphere. Just wanted to know why.
one reason is that one of our programmers is Canadian and he's been pulling in the connections from the homeland. but also, i think there is a similar cultural crossover that is strong between nz and canada.
harsh! We shouldn't throw stones, Doc. I reckon for every "life is a highway " rawk anthem NZ would find an eqivalent Trippin' or something equally cringe-worthy.
i'm sorry but Trippin' was the flagship of NZ's brief hair metal scene and if I were in control of this cuntry it would be the new national anthem AND the new haka. (get practising on that high C, Jonah).
And hey, I never dissed Tom Cochrane. He's like the Canadian Jimmy Barnes.
^look up^The statement was made in the context of 'new zealand music' doc, you cannot judge an entire country by the music one musician (flavour of the month, puppet or whatever the case maybe) produces.
no, you can't judge an entire country by the music one musician(puppet) produces, but you can judge the people pulling the strings. I'm sure Canada as well as nearly every other music producing country in the western world has a mainstream musical heirachy that is meerly at the surface waiting to be "scratched" away to reveal all the other cool bands and musicians making good music.....................um yeah
........no doubt the next post will be "doctor O" bumming me out
haha guess again, I wouldnt do that to you, you mysterious woman of the night.
i was just taking the piss actually....we could sit here all day talking about how the industry and corporate moguls dictate what people klisten to and maybe even the digital age being the implosion and ultimate destruction of artistic ownership and how we should all get back to the way of the banjo on the patio as that's the only way of 'keeping it real'........but I would rather get stuck into my 12 cassette/book boxed set of 'The entire works of Tolstoi' which me mum got me for xmas last year than begin a yawnfest like that.
ahhhhhhhhhhhhh "Doctor O" you mysterious mohammed of the night
I'm always guaranteed a good hearty laugh when I read your posts
it's always good to get some advice from your friendly local doctor, speaking of which, I have this niggling eye twitch that only occurs when replying to one of your posts....
diagnosis: sounds like the rare form of epilepsy 'strobelightitis' from overinulging in the Hard House scene too much. please stay away from Fevah parties for a good three weeks, no matter how tempting the mostboringnameintheworld UK DJ is thats playing. and cut down on the ol' .
thats right. only bzzzz bzzzzzzzzz from now on......try a herbal Smoke on the Water remedy, taken with 4ml Iron Man tablets and 2.5gm Cliff 'em All , every two to three hours

well, being canadian, *click* and liking NZ music very much, and even being in a NEW ZEALAND band, i would have too say, that perhaps canadians jut have good taste... :-)
but seriously, i'd have too say that the USA=Australia thing is part of it, in that we/i am used too being in the shadow of other, bigger, but not nessicarily better things, so we can appreciate NZ music.
arrrrrr.
awww, yeah well of course then! Just say bank card! (EFTPOS seems a bit awkward as an acronym for my funky Canadian jaw to juggle!!!)
Also, they have direct payment everywhere now though, so I don't see what that has to do with Canada and NZ?
