It was only last week that I found out anything about Supernova . . . the Gunners, the Crue and Metallica combined !!!!!
Hell, I almost creamed my jeans
All week I waited, too excited to even think about anything else, I mean come on the Gunners, the Crue and Metallica combined !!!!!
My girlfriend thought I was going a bit mad
"I thought you hated reality shows blah blah blah . . ."
"What are you crazy woman? This is Gunners, the Crue and Metallica combined !!!!!"
to which I would just get given the old shake of the head and an evil smirk, but this was mainly because she had actually seen some of the Inxs version . . . . and I had not . . . .?!?!
I feel like such a fool, here I was expecting some type of doco type thing of the guys jamming and cool shit, and what did I get . . . . . . . .
Pussyrock Idol
I should have known better I suppose . . :(

Bummer .. sounds like such a let down :-) I can remember a TV let down. I was in the Navy at the time, and Mike Tyson was fighting Micheal Spinks ( 1988 ) I was working at the training base Tamaki, and as it turned out I was duty medic the day of the fight ... I'd been looking forward to the fight all week, even thou I'm not a great fan of boxing, it had been hyped up on TV and my mates were into it, so I joined the band wagon. I had a large TV in the sickbay and as I was duty that day my mates decided they'd come and watch it with me there, being a medical centre we had a ward of 4 beds all with the tilt up backs so you could sit up on the bed, We'd decided to bring drinks and food, and I'd put off admitting patients as best I could .. obviously if it had been needed I would have, but it was normally a quiet sickbay at the best of times ... so we could all sit around eat and drink and watch the fight ... we'd just got everything sorted after a week of "operations" to get the sick bay, food and drinks sorted, settled down with the beds infront of the TV, backs in upright position, drinks in hand food at the side's of the beds on the lockers .. then bang .. bloody tyson knocks him out in the First round ... !!! little over a minute start to finish ..!!! hadn't even finished the drink .. we ended up watching the Americas cup or something like that .. TV let down ...

Yes, and you can go to their show on New Year's Eve at the Hard Rock Hotel in Vegas.

the whole "rockstar" thing is an embaressment to rock music. just like 'idol' but with ex stars who havnt got anything goin for them anymore but past reference.
Inxs is now a disgrace to aussie music. what would hutchings of thought?
i quote jimmy barnes (aussie legend) "michael would be rolling in his grave if he knew"
as for the new series.....just disgraceful. the dude from the gunners aint a real gunner is he. hes of the axel era not the guns n roses era.
dude from metallica, u aint gonna go anywhre if u have left a band as big as metallica, no real fan will accept him taking on a cheesy show like rockstar.
as for lee, seriously he should just get outta the public limelight. the crue are no more and so should he. he stopped been a great musician when he became a celebrity.
come on people, we gotta accept that music just hasnt got great rock n rollers like it use to. there are few but wont ever be as great. stop trying to ressurect these greats otherwise there last moments in their carrers will be what will be their let down.

Have you thought about maybe changing your username if you're going to make a post like this? Heh.

good point but u c, channel z was not taken off air because it was no longer of its time and no longer had an audience. it was taken off due to corporate wankers.
the crue, metallica and gunners didnt drop becuase thier contracts all got cut due to suits who wanna change the scene, they ran past thier limit.
whereas MTV didnt work here at first because it had a low audience rating and wasnt at all a contributor to the media scene in nz. hence the reason it was taken away.
z was the only station that gave so much exposure to nz music including indy bands. z was the only satation with so much variety and wasnt run to the mainstream market from overseas.

Or perhaps nobody was listening? Ooooh that sounds familiar...

corporate wankers who decided their lowest-rating commercial station (1.6% market share in their last survey) should perhaps change their format?
while 1.6% of the listening population isn't 'no-one', it's definitely at the lower end of the scale.
hahaha just maybe because u didnt ...
hahaha just maybe because u didnt listen to z dnt mean there werent people listening to z. just like wat right would a heavy metal listener have to dropping a pop radio station just because their music society that they are in dont listen to it?
just because not everyone listened to alternative rock and indie kiwi music doesnt mean that its not as valuable as other stations were at the time. dont forget that it was channel z that introduced a majority of our mainstream rock artists to nz like franz ferdinand, muse and the white stripes.
do not forget that channel z was also the gateway for up and coming nz arists such as the feelers, pluto, goldenhorse and the veils.
oh yes lets not forget that it was on channel zs big night in that steriogram first broke through and since then became one of the most commercialised kiwi band ever with many contracts to overseas advertising such as ,at the time, apples brand new product the IPOD.
with that aside this topic was on 'rockstar' not your failure to understand my user name.

Yeah you're right, this was a topic about Rockstar: Supernova until I decided to start making fun of you. Very shortly I will invite you to teach my grandmother to suck eggs, or perhaps suggest that what we really need right now is some kind of round thing that could rotate and move carts along. I think that needs to be reinvented.

that's a bit of a stretch. the traditional story, as reported in the Washington Post goes..
http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/articles/A59753-2004May1.html
About 16 months ago, however, the Los Angeles-based talent-finder sat at home scouting the globe for groups. He typed "New Zealand indie rock bands" into his computer search engine and found Steriogram, five lads from the town of Whangarei in New Zealand. They had a song and a video posted on a Web site but no record contract.
Excited by what he heard, Berman e-mailed Steriogram frontman Brad Carter asking for more music, sparking a swift chain of events. Carter mailed a demo CD of about five songs. Berman played the songs for Dan McCarroll, senior creative director for EMI Publishing. Impressed, McCarroll played the music for a friend, who happened to be the president of Capitol Records.
Two weeks later, Steriogram had a five-album deal with Capitol, home of the Beatles and Garth Brooks. Now, the band is touring the United States and has a video on MTV.
Hmm, I wonder which website that was?
// and since then became one of the most commercialised kiwi band
// ever with many contracts to overseas advertising such as ,
// at the time, apples brand new product the IPOD.
the steriogram song was used in the 2004 ad campaign, three years after the ipod was released. hardly a 'brand new product'.

iv read that article b4, its outdated (2003). it does show that z should be still continuious if thats what your prooving? which i dnt think u r....hrmm u should of read the article b4 posting it...

Maybe I would have taken the time to read the article if I hadn't actually written it. What I was trying to say, admittedly with a bunch of very complicated mixed metaphors is that I am well aware of the function that Z once had, and that the problem with it was that it wasn't making money, and that is why it is off the air now. And now I am going to stop this argument because I've said it all before anyway (search the forums for my posts if you need to) and while it amuses me, I'm sure it bores the fuck out of everyone else.
On a Rockstar: Supernova tip though: Recaps!

he is one of very few who don't seem to be forcing their dancing/strutting/posing. like some of them get told that they need to "bring it", and then during their next performance they pull out the most choreographed routine and that is apparently "bringing it". i guess that's the band's fault for liking it? phil also seems more like a band member than a band leader which i prefer. plus family aside, who is actually going to go to a supernova show to see x singing rather than the guy who used to be some part of your favourite band?
while we're at it, does anyone actually own an album that gilby played on?

arrh i c. all good. hey that link to hubris, well...umm...that article...thats the worst fukin thing iv read on the net...why the fuk do u need to re cap over an episode? i was thinking maybe it had some conclusion to it but its just babble about crap. who the fuk writes those rock star articles?
...wait do you write up this crap? i hope not.
na no need to diss it...but i was hoping it would maybe express more of the singers abilitys and maybe just maybe about their potential in this show, not who gets wat song or their hair styles.
wasnt this this show about finding a lead singer to a band of so called "rock legends". but it seems to be getting more attention from their feuds and personalitys than their talent or potential to lead this band supernova.
hrmm......

One day I hope you'll learn to use the 'reply to post' button. And really, the worst thing you've read on the net, ever? Really? You've obviously never read Backstreet Boys fan fic then...
Also:

Okay, now I get it, you're not real. No one could seriously miss the whole point that 'Reality' TV is just about the entertainment by that much. Noizy, I'm looking at you here!

Joanna obviously i have not read anything from a backstreet boy fan because it is something that i don't intend to search for or look over when on the net. Unlike anything on this website which does interest me.
Okay im terribly sorry with all my heart and soul for not using the 'reply to post' feature.
The irony indeed Noizy, i would have to put these posts up with the 'worst fukin things iv read on the net' list. I apologise partly on that.

The literal word on the street is that with this post you have officially (officially!) moved past irony and into Alanisville.
