The Strokes at the St. James!!!

So its official, the strokes are playing the St. James on August 1st. This is undoubtedly the greatest news the internet has given me a very long long time. I have one query though, on the ticketdirect website, there's something about it being an r18 gig. I'll be about two months shy on August 1st, for any Aucklanders here, who've had experience with the St. James, am I wasting my time spending money on tickets and a plane from Wellington? Am I likely to be shunned? Will they care that much if there are thousands of people trying to get in and i have a 70 dollar ticket in my hand? Or will I have to invest a fake id/fake beard?

Any help would be great.

Cheers

Forums: The Bar,

From what I witnessed at the Interpol show last year, they are pretty hardcore in enforcing the R18 thing. I saw several underagers getting turned away at the door. I think they were checking ID for anyone who looked under 25.
Unless you can get a really good fake ID, I would say it is quite a gamble paying for not just a ticket to the show, but airfares as well.

Just heard.. general admission is SOLD OUT.

You can still get upstairs tickets though.

Two and a half hours!

I managed to get some upstairs tickets, but on at the back corner. Man that sold was fast. I didn't have time to stop and think about id repercussions at all.

Went to Story of the year, at the St James, didn't even ask for ID. and probably 3/4 of the kids there were under or only just 18 and would definitely be asked for ID if buying alcohol from a super market, they were more worried about people bringing bags etc in to the venue.

Juse don't shave for a few days before if you go and look confident and you will be sweet. They won't check everyones ID's it'd take too long, and if you don't buy alcohol there you should have no problems.
