OK, catch me up Wellington...

Righto, I'm back in Wellies, flat sorted, income sorted- time to give the Welly music scene a big 'haven't seen you for ages' hug... things have changed a lot in the last two years though. It certainly hasn't been placed in a time capsule. Good thing, right? Or maybe there's some things you're really ticked off about?
My own painfully insubstantial 1st impressions: some venues have opened, some have changed names/hands, some music shops have closed/opened/changed hands, a lot of bands have come and gone. Help me get back up to speed!

Forums: The Bar,

Indigo is now the San Francisco Bathhouse because they're trying to make it a place you drink at every night, as opposed to a place you just go to on the weekend for gigs. Their sign is spectacularly ugly. And now Atomic and 24 Hour Party People are full of Courtenay Place type people, which is sucky.

hehehe - if I ever play a gig there again and get to do the poster I'm going to put "San Fransisco Bath House" in a font made out of penis's.

I used to drink there every night.

Well, I thought Indigo/SF Bath house shined up pretty well for the Trans Am/Kahu/Over The Atlantic gig the other night- funny how packed the deck got after the show, cold as it was: must've been the smokers nursing the habit? I'm still getting used to that too eh- fresh clean air at gigs? WTF!?!

Lots of buildings have gone *poof* which makes for a very disorienting walk to work... "Wait a minute.. where.. the fuck am I?? Oh... right... Kerry Prenderghastly's wet dream"

See what I did there? Clever aren't I? Some things NEVER change...

Mmmm-hmmmm. She's 'added significant value' to the place. I guess, dependant on how you measure it.

all the good bands have broken up or moved away.

i have not found any to replace them.

somebody please prove me wrong.

please.

This happens about every 4 years from what I've seen (in my 3rd rotation of artists myself). I wouldn't say that all the good bands left - a number of pretty average ones went too :-)

this is true but i would rather avoid bands i dont like that not see any bands i do like. it was painful watching a boring band play after a good band though.

Yeah, there is definitely a cyclic pattern. We'll be over the hump shortly I'm sure. I was most upset to hear about the demise of The K1500 Project, but I'm glad the individual members are still active in other bands.

Cheers dude. Definatly cyclic.

With k1500 it'd been a while since we'd really made any headway really - and seeing as all of K1500 are in the Dukes of Leisure it wasn't such a huge loss. Anyway K1500 was always kind of a vehicle for my ramblings so it will be back at some point - just need more space to focus on the Dukes and Idle Faction.

Many many great memories though - and it'll be back at some point. Nothing lasts for ever!
