I watched Mulholland Drive and Stay last night.

Can anyone tell me what the fuck went on in Mulholland Drive?

Anyone seen Stay? It is another totally mental film. Even at the end I was still struggling to figure out what the hell happened. Good movie though kept my attention firmly on the movie...mainly becuase I was trying to figure out what was going on.

Those are quite possibly 2 of the most messed up and confusing movies I have ever seen in my life.

Forums: The Bar,

I haven't seen Stay, but I figured out Mullholland drive at the time.
Its one of David Lynchs most obtuse movies.
Basically you divide the movie in half at the part where the Blonde girl looks at the blue box-thing.
The half preceeding it is her deulded fantasy, the half proceeding it is the reality.
I didn't realise that it was naomi watts being the blonde girl the whole way through first time I saw it, she was stunning. Mind you, I was going through a Mullholland Drive/Pi/Donnie Darko/Requiem for a Dream stage so they're all kinda coalesced into a bowl of wank art house film soup, where a lesbian stares at the sun through a blue box next to dude in a rabbit suit doing Heroin

Part of the reason why Naomi Watts looks so different is because the second part of the film was made a year after the first part, due to production hassles. So not only was Watts a year older, but she had a different hair cut and I think she may have even lost weight too, so she looks physically different to the younger, prettier character at the beginning of the film. It's not just actoring.

Ah. Bugger. That ruins everything. I just thought she was the best person ever

If you read it one time, you will understand.
If you read it two times, you will never understand.

Apparently Jacobs Ladder is a king amongst the mind fuck films.

actually, it's pretty damn straightfoward. it's more like in Jacob's Ladder the characters are all confused and freaked out, in Mulholland Drive the audience is.

I don't think I could even watch a movie called Mulholland Drive. Totally puts me off right there.

Oh, I really enjoyed Stay. Everyone wore such nice sweaters (or I guess you call them jumpers. Whatev.). The plot really didn't seem all that complicated to me. I'd outline it for you, but I'm not the kind of girl to spoil a movie for everyone else.
