King Kapisi / Dimmer tour

Good to hear that the King will be coming to NP, I'll definitely check that out. But I have to say 'whaddup wit da venue?' The Mill is one of the worst places for live acts to play. The Mill is a claustrophobia inducing tin can with a large portion of the floor space taken by poles supporting the building. The Mayfair would be a much better venue, Che Fu just played there and he went off!

The $15 ticket price was well worth it in both quality of acts plus the fact the music was pumping from 10:30pm till 3pm closing time. Its a shame a few more Nupers bumpkins didn't drag their butts outta the cow shed to support these solid acts, but then again it just ment more oxygen and floor space for me and my mates.

Shayne Carter was in his non-chalant element in both his sound and deftly dealing with the 'dutch courage' brigade. King Kapisis' gig was smooth. A mixture of kaupapa driven lyrics, a technically proficient backing band, a bit of beat boxing, some scratching on the side and a good dose of velvet vocals from the lovely Ms Rapley. King Kapisi made the night of one enthusiastic female fan by granting her request for an impromptu performance of 'from da old plantation' for which she which she accordingly added the 'screams'.

On a final note, just wanted to say that -Channa Miriam you were the funkiest person busting a move at the King Kapisi / Dimmer gig.

A good night to be had by all. I give it 7 jandals out of 10... What the heck, throw in another half a jandal for Channa Miriam and her funky dance.

And before anyone asks... no the gig didn't go for 16 and a half hours .... that was a typo
