Hey all, we've got our song back from Los Angeles that was produced over there by Malcolm Welsford, and tracked here in Auckland by Evan Cooper. Sounds rather huge, please check it out! Rip, burn & share!

It was all good, a great experience for a young band like us, except the timeframe literally was around about 8-9 months, we tracked the drums in september 2005, the rest in november 2005, and got the final mix may 2005.. haha.. so the song is old as for us and the novelty wore off after the first few months because of how long it took, and we have a lot of new and better songs now that we wish we had recorded instead, and will now record at york st. but it's good as to have worked with malcolm we're stoked with the recording. But he's a busy man, wouldn't record with him again if we wanted anything in a short time frame.. but definately worth it if you can get him to record one of your tracks and not expect it any time soon.

I like how he gets that full wall of guitars sound to perfection, a mates band also did a recording with him and that sounded mean, not many nz producers can achieve this as well as he does imo from what i've heard, so thats why we went with him, didn't let us down!

It is a good recording, but if you want my opinion - (I'm assuming you do since you've posted this publicly) I'd say its a pretty boring song. It starts well, like the first 40 seconds is pretty dynamic but thats it, the song doesnt really go anywhere and you've got another three minutes of the same riff, vocal melody and lead breaks. (the guitar is way 80's by the way!) Good effort but pretty standard American 80's rock. 5 out of ten from me.

Come to think of it, If anyone would like some tracks mixed or to be recorded at www.villagestudios.com and www.paramountrecording.com by ol Malc, drop us a line.
(apoligies moderator for blatent plug- just sharing the love) We did run an ad about this on NZM website and had a great response.
The timeframe thing did take a long time, but all things considered there was a relocation to California to get through, all ticketyboo now though.
