the last album I bought was Hysteria by Deff Leppard so , no, neither am I much. If you need other people to tell you what is good then you deserve to be dissapointed. Instead just go to allmusic.com (join) and have a quick listen to every song on every album of every band you are, or were, even vaguely interested by. (and check out the the similiar artists bit)

I've blathered about them enough....but I recommend Samhain.

Yeah I'd agree, lucky for me that's not what I'm doing :)
//Samhain
I've never got round to hearing them, but am always meaning too as Danzig kick arse, one day I'll get around to it.

Heard Roisin Murphy's 'Sequins'? Maybe Lovage's 'Music To Make Love To Your Old Lady By'?
These aren't really on-point, but maybe better than nothing. ;) Trying to think of something with a bit of that jazzy torch-song action and sorta "rock fan" aesthetic of electronica?

It's not what you're after probably Lughead, but Jet's mention of Rosin Murphy makes me need to pimp out her 'Rama Lama Bang Bang' to the world. That song is very very choice, driven by George of the Jungle style drums and bucketloads of good times.

Oh yeah, sorry, 'Ruby Blue' is the album. Pre-album it was issued on vinyl in spurts (squip) as 'Sequins #1', etc.
But that reminds me there was an American duo called Ruby who did stuff that was sorta like a more rocked up Portishead. Also a group called Laika who did all kinds of crazy madness. You might find some Ruby stuff real cheap in Real Groovy, pretty sure I've seen it there over the years.

Ruby's sort-of-hit was "Paraffin" - a super cheery number about child abuse.

heh, what like some odd electro rock band or a band of not so merry men who roam around NZ stealing from the rich & stupid to support our drug induced roaming around NZ?

Do what the cool people do.
Listen to a song of one of the bands that you're really inspired by, take some lyrics from it, and bingo, there's your band name! If you're going to be inspired by two bands, like you said, take some lyrics from each and moosh them together.
Sorted.
