what a fooken shambles.
one of the dubious "benefits" of being without "gainful" employment is the expectation that the "man" o' the house will attend to certain "jobs" that sadly have been left behind in the hectic pace of modern life.(ie: playing Bass). and its a well known fact, that I'm not man enough to argue with my Wife.
Hire the appropriate Tradesman is my advice young men.
Whoever is responsible for CORNICE will be getting a visit from me shortly, and it wont be a courtesy call MF
I'd also like to take this oppurtunity to admonish anyone involved on TV Programming for this plethora of "Its so Fucking easy to build a house" type shows. Lies, All LIES

When do I get the Dad training, when you learn to do all the cool shit your Dad does, like make shit out of wood, fix cars, that sort of thing? I'm 24 and I'm still waiting for mine.

modern cars and to elec-mo-tronical. And even most $500 cars these days have electronic shit in them.
I learnt tricks off one of my dad's friends, a mechanic mate, and somewhat self taught. But if you have electronic ignition and fuel injection, then being able to set points and play with the carburettor is all academic.
Home improvement is definitely ...
Home improvement is definitely over-rated. In fact, some outfit recently reckoned that the increase in injuries was due to home improvement shows.
Insulating your house is fucking fantastic. But it's really not that much extra to pay someone to do it compared to the discomfort and anguish of doing it.
The other really big thing is that often there's a huge learning curve, with it taking you weeks to finally work out how to do something, only then to never have to do it again.
Not only can tradespeople do the same job faster, they get the materials at trade-rates, which further erodes the supposed cost-advantage of D.I.Y.
