Need some advice on 2x12" combo amps!!!!

Not sure if this is the right place to post this but I'm wanting to upgrade to a 2 x 12" combo guitar amp and am overwhelmed by whats available on the market. As I am a poor student i'm going to try pick something up second hand. I have a Korg Toneworks AX1000G pedal so am not really interested in a modelling amp but just want some power! I want something reliable and loud with suitabloe for gig and studio use. Can anyone out there help me? I've been told to go for a valve/tube amp but don't think I can afford it... Any thoughts, recommendations or advice would be much appreciated. Thank you

Forums: The Bar,

hi man... go with peavey, it's affordable yet reliable, and got nice sound... i used to have a korg ax1500, well, that and peavey sounded good..(if you know how to set them)

Oh yeah, if you want affordable, dont buy the valve amps (tube) go witht the transistors.....
hope that helps.....

The Peavey Classic 50 212 is a good, popular valve amp, & it's easy to pick up used ones cheaply... if you wind up the clean channel, it sounds very similar to a Fender Twin, and the lead channel is OK too, a Marshally sorta rock vibe but not as sharp.

just hunt around ... trademe sometime you can find a good deal.
I got got y 2x12 fender Blues Deville tube amp practailly new for 1/3 of the price the guy paid.
Keep huynting... a good tube amp will last forever and be loud and phat as hell.
wouldnt trade mine for the world...well...
