Who wears it? Why? Who thinks it's silly, and consumer-whore-only? What do y'all think about merchandise?
I personally pretty much exclusively wear band t-shirts. Firstly, I think they look cool. Secondly, I am pretty much all about music-its something I love, so I tend to surround myself with it. And thirdly, its so cheap! I go to Bands 'n' Brands in Glen Eden (aucks), and get a few shirts at a time for the money I might spend on one at somewhere like a Billabong/Rip Curl/Amazon store. They're about the same price as getting pretty plain shirts at Hallensteins too.
And I like the colour.

Most of what I have mentions a band somewhere on it. But I don't do it for any reason other than... that's just what I tend to own. And I like to annoy people by wearing band shirts of bands they hate.

i like wearing band t shirts because i'd rather logos of my favourite bands than some stupid logo of a brand i don't really care for.
i hate finding band t shirts that are rip offs of the real thing with really bad print jobs and wrong colours and such.

I get band t-shirts generally to support the artist and because I like them. About half of the band shirts I own I bought directly off the bands.
I agree with trixie that I'd rather wear a t-shirt from a band than some logo that means nothing to me.

yeah. shouldn't there be a discount for clothes that advertise the company that made them or something.
Almost all of my t-shirts either make a statement about what music I like, what I think about something, or somewhere that I've been (although I like understated not touristy sort of shirts). Or are limegreen. That last is sort of a special category.

I'm generally not a fan, but if the merchandise is particularly cool and I really love the artist then sometimes I think about it. I've only owned 2 music related t-shirts, both of which were as a teenager (Jane's Addiction -haha- and Underworld, because their first album had a great cover).
Sure (clothing) labels are pretty dumb, but I prefer no obvious branding. I don't mind wearing things that relate to comics or visual art, because it's incorporating the thing I liked in the first place on the clothes.

I have won a couple of Metallica shirts, but rarely wear them in public.
I hate the type of people who wear the band shirts like the Ramones a Clash shirt and you go and ask them to name some songs from the artist and they can't. It just cries out Poser (and I really really hate using that word)

Yeah I'm bit of a band t-shirt whore, pretty much all the t-shirts I wear are music related.
T-shirts I have from bands are, Foo Fighters, Qotsa, RHCP, Nirvana, Metallica, Probot, Mars Volta, SOAD & 8 Foot Sativa.
I only have these because I like the bands, but trying not wear the Metallica ones as much, and haven't worn that Sativa for ages, not that much of a fan
