The Fire-Raiser

Anyone remember Maurice Gee's The Fire-Raiser. It was made into a five-part TV series way back when (I think it starred someone like John Bach or Bruno Lawrence).

Does anyone know if it's available on DVD?

Forums: The Bar,

I remember it, I read lines from it back in the day when I was trying to be a child actor and auditioning for Shark in the Park. But I don't know if I ever saw it, the book was a favourite though.

Shark in the Park was a cop show, right? How did you get on?

I didn't. I did get to wear a tshirt with a big letter 'C' on it as part of a question on Just Testing and there ended my illustrious television career.

Bummer.

I always wanted to be an extra. Y'know, one of those people talking at a table two tables away from the main characters, or one of those people who just happen to be crossing the street or something; the kind of extra that, even if you manage to get a credit, it's "Man in cafe no. 4" or "Man crossing street". Or even better! One of the baddie's nameless henchmen who always get killed in a hail of gunfire, even though the hero appeared to be firing in a different direction.

With Russell "Count Homogenised/Playskool" Smith.

Fire-raiser was heller good. It's been re-run in the last 10 years or so -- cos it seems fresher than the original 80s memory. Don't know about DVD though. There are lots of gems out there. What about Steelriders?

The New Zulland show I most want a DVD of is Insiders Guide to Happiness and I would make up a little sticker apostrophe and stick it on myself.

That or a compilation of Shortland Street greatest moments and weddings.

Was Russell Crowe Count Homogenised?! (Sorry if that's totally common knowledge or something). I knew he once went by the name Russ Le Roq, but I never knew he was Count Homogenised.

Doh! Sorry... just read your post again more carefully (sheepish grin).
