I reserve judgement on whether this is a good drummer joke, but it is a drummer joke nonetheless.
A drummer gets sick and tired of everybody making jokes about him, so he makes an important decision. "I am going to become a guitarist, noone will make fun of me then", he says, and heads off to the shops to buy a guitar and amp. He gets to the shop, walks up to the counter and says to the shopkeep, " I'll have a Gibson Les Paul Goldtop and a Fender Twin please, and could you throw in a lead and a strap".
The shopkeep stares hard at the drummer and says "You're a Drummer aren't you"?
"How can you tell?" say's the drummer.
"Because this is a fish and chip shop you fool".
Best music joke ever though....
What's the difference between a guitarist and a fixed term investment plan?
a fixed term investment plan will eventually mature and earn money.
I suppose drummers seem to have are reputation for stupid behaviour.
Maybe it is because not that many musicians understand drumming unless they play drums themselves. Guitarists and Bass and keyboard players only seem to relate to drummers on a purely structural level - timing, changes in tempo, song structure, dynamics etc. While among themselves they also have key, key changes, melody... it seems they need to collaborate more closely to make music, while a drummer can be left to do their thing - more like an enhancement.
Maybe it is because drummers don’t have the responsibility of other band members. They are not often in charge of a band like the lead singer or guitarist appears to be leaving them free. Or perhaps drummers simply don't need to work on things like guitarists and singers do. This could give them a reputation for being less involved, more time to get bored, more time to create mayhem.
It could just be the type of personalities that are drawn to drumming...
It could be true though, we are just a bunch of retards!
