I loved these threads when they came up a few years back... lots of entertaining pro- and anti- ranting. Anyone heard some doozies (doozies??) recently?
Arcade Fire covering Talking Heads' Naive Melody (This Must Be The Place). OK, probably pretty hard to enjoy a cover of one of your favourite songs ever EVER.
Wavering:
Yeah, not just the vocals... Tortoise & Bonnie Prince Billy covering Elton John's Daniel. Points for making it sound like Suicide or something and nothing like any of Elton John, Tortoise or Bonnie Prince Billy. Minus as many points for going on for ages and lacking either a hypnotic listen-forever-happily vibe or decent pop dynamics.
Hopefully cool:
Junior Boys cover Sinatra on their upcoming album. Supposedly beatless shimmeriness.
Oh, RECENTLY no, I haven't heard anything apart from a fairly good cover of Alice Cooper's 'Clones (We're All)' on the radio- I've spent the last five minutes trying to track down the name of the band, but I got nothin... it wasn't the Pumpkin's version either, it sounded quite recent. FWIW, the Pumpkin's version is still very cool, better actually.

A classical pianist covering Radiohead's 'Paranoid Android'. Worth a listen if you know the original, I reckon.
