U2 has postponed their Australian and New Zealand tour dates.
The Next Adventure and Michael Coppel have announced that the final 10 dates of U2's Vertigo tour have been delayed.
"This action is unavoidable due to the illness of an immediate family member of one of the band," it was announced in a statement today.
"Any fan of U2 will realise that this decision has not been taken lightly," said TNA President Arthur Fogel. "We will announce further details as soon as we have them."

I am pretty sick of hearing about this. It is on the radio every 10 mins and tely. It's like the media is running about waving our arms shouting "don't panic, don't panic, U2 are posponed!!!!!!!"

Even though I could live without the band's music I do feel sorry for people who have forked out a small (in some cases large) fortune to go to this show only to have airfares and accomodation rendered fairly useless.
It would annoy me if i'd forked out to see a band I love, and then the show is cancelled.

The chances of these kinds of things happening really should make people think twice about buying tickets off trademe. If U2 actually cancelled, even if they refunded the tickets, there'd be a whole bunch of people down a hella lotta money.

refunds would go to the people who bought the tickets originally wouldn't they? not the people who actually have the tickets in their hands, but the person whose details were taken when the booking was made.

I've got nothing against U2, but it seem like every old person had latched onto them as the thing to like lately. They are becoming the Bee Gees of the 21st century.

They've been going for 30 years, surely it's expected that a lot of 40-somethings would've liked them since their schooldays?

so long as the frontman is still there ('cos they speculate it's the Edge's kid who's got cancer) i reckon they should just replace him with another guitarist and finish the final shows. unless, of course, they're all very close to each others' families

right, so say a kid who had cancer brought one of those U2 tickets and only has a few more weeks to live, i guess yeah they should learn to deal with crap too but if i were one of the band members i'd continue with the concert
how many friends/family members/other people with cancer do you know compared to me, and how often do you go to visit them in hospital?

U2 have had the same members for the entire 30 years they've existed. I think they would/should have more loyalty to each other than to the fans. Not to mention, I imagine that a lot of fans are going to see the edge just as much as bono. And I found out last week my mum has cancer. I can't even begin to imagine how sickening it'd be to learn a child of mine had cancer.
