well, time for an official announcement I suppose...
With the departure of Joe from Morse Media (the company behind nzmusic/smokecds), I am stepping into the team as the new 'senior' developer.
I'll probably get an official login for handling work-related posts and whatnot, and keep my noizyboy handle for everything else.
some of the content on noizyland.com is going to end up over here (hopefully), and I'll be winding down certain sections of that site where I would now appear to be in direct competition with myself.
so yes, if the site's down or you're getting code errors all over the show, you know who to blame.
cheers,
james.

Excellent. I've taken the liberty of preparing a handy chart to demonstrate what works well at an 'industry' Xmas party:

I second that emotion mostly... I like both but Noizyland always had the charm factor of (a) being a fanatical fansite and (b) squeezing so much informtion into one megabroadsheethomepage... I hope Noizyland keeps going, not only for all the archival content there that is so valuable to search on, but also because I sent you a copy of our album recently and it wouuld've been nice to be added to the list of artists there...

cheers! and yeah, it will, in one form or another. There is, as you say, a lot of archival stuff that people seem to find useful, so I'll make sure that info stays accessible either there or here. The homepage has essentially morphed into its own self-updating news/blog/podcast page driven by other site's XML feeds, so that'll probably remain as a way for people to get a quick overview on what's new around the nz music web. Might even expand and break out that bit of it actually - there's more and more interesting feeds popping up all over the place every month.
As far as band info goes, I'll probably pull off bio info soon, but leave discography/reviews/interviews info there, and push people thru to nzm for 'more info' (where available).
The problem with adding Bands/Artists is, much like nzmusic, I've got a list of bands wanting to get onto the site that's a mile long. I was in the process of creating a wiki-like system for noizyland that would allow bands (and anyone, in fact) add and edit info about bands, instead of me having to do all the admin work up front. When the nzmusic job appeared on the horizon, I kinda let that development slip by the by, but, again, it might get resurrected in one way or another for the new build of nzmusic that's on the go.

aha! well, maybe one band entry for old times sake.
