Eight are GOOD!

hey jane,
yes - your so right. Any band with paul russell in it rocks, and of course the musics great

YAY - well sad no Sevendust at the Creed/Incubus show... but Eight are opening instead! Woohoo!

Eight are wonderful. They have had a demo out now for awhile, its a 11 track, you can buy it at Real Groovy for $20. In the next wee while, they will be releasing a full album and that is set to rock! 'Whale' is thier first single but will be soon followed up with another hit! The lead singer Bruce's voice is refreshingly new and add's a whole new dimension to thier music.

Support them by requesting thier songs on Channel Z or the Rock and buy that demo album or single!

Listen out for the new single MOMENTS GONE, due to be released to radio on the next Kiwi Hit Disc.

saw Eight last night at the creed concert and they were great, i really like that song warm??(i think thats what its called).
and well creed rocked the stage last night, they were fucking great!!!!!!!!!

damn i think i missed them! they were first on ay? i had never heard of them so i was lookin forward to hearing them at creed but i was too late! Man Creed went off!! the stage props so impressive!! did you see me? i was the one with the rainbow sock sleeves!

yeah i saw them too!! it was an awesome concert!!

yeah i think u must have missed Eight, the were on at about 5:30-6:00.
yeah i know the stage stuff was great!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
nope i didnt see u, where were u standing???
i was at the right side off the stage at the front!!!!!

i was left of the stage sorta in the front but not rite at the front!

ohh ok. hey, did u by any chance take any photo's???
because i went and bought a camera and was to busy checking out this really sexy guy that works at the warehouse, that i bought a camera without any flash.ooops!

ooo eight were awesome i was in the front row ( left ) the entire night (some people might of heard me i was screaming out sexy chris the whole time , very shameful!!) any ways incubus were bloody amazin, i was gutted to fiind that they let camera's in :(

They let cameras in?

Hmm... they confiscated my plastic water bottle at the gate but didn't find the pocket knife I always keep in my bag and forgot was in here (honest!).

No one was hurt in relation to this incident.

I missed Eight but I've seen them another time, they're good as.

pearl jam

well they didnt because when i was standing in line to be 'patted down' i saw this whole container full of cameras with tickets on them! so maybe ppl sneaked them in! man whoever got picks, playlists or drumsticks are lucky shits!!!

yeah i got a pick but some bitch next to me stole it!! i was right at the front too me and my mate waited 4 hours!! in line just to get up the front but it was so worth it!!

eight are one of the best nz bands i know of at the moment

you should get out more

you should lighten up a little

its impossible

oh well, never mind then.
who do you think could be considered one of the best nz bands at the moment?

song wise and performance wise, I really have to say Pluto.
I think they've go the most to offer.

you are so right hollis.

i like that eight song "whale" but most of their set is very average. they over-do the christian thing too, which is ok i spose if you're christian but i think theres a point when a christian band becomes mainstream that they should stop preaching in their lyrics and in their set.

pluto are fucking wicked.

I agree.
I have no time for Christian music, especially this new modern rock born again style.
It comes from a place I simply don't understand.
I've worked with some christian bands and it is very unpleasant.
There is an underlying dishonesty to the music. NOT the message, don't get me wrong(they can say what ever they want) but the music becomes a means to an end and not really the thing that mainly drives them. And obviously thats important to me.
and they're always a couple of years off the pace.Soon we'll have them doing straight up rock...oppps lmnop

Do not put up with the average
seek out genius.

that is all

hollis you are so right.

i am not anti-christian. if people want to be religious then thats up to them. its when they cross over that theres problems.

some bands have christian members but don't do the christian lyrics thing or preach when they're on-stage (eg: steriogram). they're not the greatest example of a great band that's making it while not trying to capitalise on the whole religo thing, but they have their style going and some songs are pretty good without being in your face.

one time i saw eight and they played a song called "psalm (insert number here)". how in your face is that?

how about Zeds 'come on down (and get involved)'

fucking youth groups

moving off the christian subject for a second.

there are soo many bands out there at the moment who have one or two songs on the radio, they've gotten a bit of nz on air funding (good on them i say for gaining that support) but when you go and see them live their set is made up of absolute filler.

you know what i mean... one or two good songs (those singles) then the rest is pretty average or even shite.

eight are a good example of this. don't want to bag them too much, cos they're not alone in this category.

but yeah - i ask the question... why bother putting out one or two fairly decent singles when the rest of your set isn't up to scratch and theres obviously expectation/momentum growing from these songs that people have been hearing for an album. and when they go to record an album its full of sub-standard shite - its no wonder half these bands can't sell albums (not meaning eight cos obviously they don't have an album)!!!!

i mean, i know its hard to write decent songs all the f***ing time but please, can some of these bands like WAIT to launch themselves on the public and write at least 5 or 6 good songs.

Geek (hollis)!

geek?

SO HARSH.

i second the pluto thing, they rock.
You should know eight were chosen by creed to support them, eight werent trying all hard to be there, so its just timing that they only had one well known song.
i really dislike zed, but i dont mind some chrisitian bands depending on how religious they get in their songs.
returning to pluto again....they rock and are gonna go so far.

tali free pluto show at the KA tonight

anyway.

its all good that eight got the creed support, i mean i'm not one to knock down achievement.

i'm just saying i've seen eight before and apart from that song (and it wasn't even out yet so i wasn't singling it out due to radio airplay) it was utter filler.

:)

yeah i can see where your coming from.
Thanks for the info on the gig - such a painful reminder, being under 18 and all, but are you going?
at least new single 'moments gone' is going to be on radio soon so more people will be aware of them.

i like the new one, moments gone!!! (i think)
the video is cool too.

i think the video is boring and budget!

does anyone reckon that the singer dude from eight sounds like chris cornell?

eight are crap! i saw them at incubus/creed i was so bored through-out their performance that i was counting all the speakers and lights no more eight!

creed. now theres a band who sucks.

i agree. i went for incubus and sevendust a pity sevendust didnt go though

eigth were ok but i really went for incubus and sevendust as well i was so pissed off when they cancelled but i thought creed were sort of cool that night!!
hey 8footsativa so u went as well?? where abouts were u i was right at the front!!

did anyone get any photos of incubus or anything at all cuz all the ppl i asked who went didnt get any as well! i left my camera at home

yes i was at that concert incubus were sooo awesome i missed "Pardon Me" as i saw my friend got to the front and collapsed by the guards so i went over to see how he was and i had to sit out with him all through "Pardon Me"
i was sorta closer towards the middle stage but very close to the front aswell

did u get any photos? incubus were AWESOME!!!

saw eight last night at odeon. they were freaking wicked - I was totally blown away as I haven't seen them live in a couple of years. Its great to see them doing a whole lot of live shows at the moment - Can't wait for the album.......

well the video 4 shift was planned to be filmed today and it would be on our screens by around the 7th of March.

hey just wondering if n e 1 has got one of Eights T-shirts yet???
wat do u think if you have one?

hey eight boys. great gig at the dogs bollox on thursday. keep playing those epic songs man.

A very late reply to some previous comments. "Psalm" by definition means "Song" so i think a song with the word "song" in it's title isn't very "how in your face is that!"

But who gives a toss!

Eight rock, they have their own sound. They have great songs and anyone who disagrees with me can pucker up and kiss my ass!

some people have their issues with christian music. they're allowed to. they can get fucked also, because they are missing out on a hell of a lot of awesome bands.

my mate has been selling heaps of norma jean cds to bogans who'd probably just give them a pass, if they knew they were christian, or bothered to even read the lyrics.

for those not in the know, norma jean are an american hardcore metal outfit, and they sound fucking wicked. everyone i know who's into metal soil themselves when they listen to them for the first time.

If their sprituality is important to them then it makes sense that it will feature in what they write about, If it doesn't fit with you, don't listen to it. I think, though, that pushing their beliefs on others is really in their brief. They make great music, and their a talented bunch, and excuse me for bringing this down to an intensly shallow level but their all fucking gorgeous!
