sign here if you wanna be famous

hey folks i thought it'd be cool to start up a competition for anyone who's not famous in NZ yet, to see who's band can be the first to get a top ten album! sign here if you want to participate... it'll just be fun to see how we go but unfortunately i can't offer any prizes... perhaps just a congratulations if you're first!

Forums: The Bar,

Hey JC, did you see that spouse swapping programme on tv last night? Whats your take on that fanatical christian lady?

I think she was fucked in the head. People like that give christianity and even worse name. Does christianity teach that association with 'non-christian' things can taint you? Seems stupid to me: avoiding temptation for fear that it will convert you (though it makes sense if you know that you are weak willed). I thought faith was all about facing temptation and trusting you won't give in that some faith in a god will protect you. Perhaps some people need faith in something else (like religion) when they have no faith in themselves?

That was fucking brilliant. Im sure that woman was the fucking devil. Pagans for life :)

she was possessed by a minor demon at least.

I was worried about her oldest daughter too. She was acting like the mum, ordering the younger sister about, sleeping with her dad....

So how've you been man, long time no see! ^_^

Not bad. Yourself? Did you ever get that covers band up and running?

Just completed a sound room in my garage. The neighbours were complaining about my drumming.

I still don't have a band at the moment, I might have to start taking a serious look.

what woman are you talking about? i haven't seen trading spouses, i hardly watch any tv except for Boston Public and Boston Legal

i thought up this topic after seeing Bic Runga's music video with lots of famous musicians in it, and thought it'd be cool to know who the other musicians who may become famous someday are before they're famous

the Bible says "test all things and hold on to what is good" - that doesn't necessarily mean you should go out and try sex and drugs and stuff but i don't think it means close your mind off to those sort of things, i don't believe in "keeping your kids innocent" 'cos they'll be exposed to it sooner or later, but i think you gotta educate yourself about bad things as much as possible and then make "Christian" decisions on whether or not you want to be a part of it

as for faith, Hebrews chapter 12 (www.biblegateway.com) gives a good summary of what it's about, basically it's when you trust God, which is different from completely understanding Him, but the only part you really need to understand is that He is good and not bad, and having faith is trusting in the "good" things

SHE'S NOT A CHRISTIAAANNNNNNAAAAH!

WTF? Yeah...Um...Believe it or not, not everyone wants to play commercial music.

yeah, that's why it says sign here IF you want to be famous

Aren't you just trying to establish a relationship with people here (with these topics) so you can 'save' them, bring them to Jesus, etc?

I don't think JC is like that. He is just gregarious.

but that's their job... to save you before this happens:

or this
http://www.newscientist.com/article.ns?id=dn4788

some might call it the mark of the beast in disguise.
others call it big brother.
others call it marvelous science,
whatever we call it we all need to be 'saved' before it happens.
that way we go to heaven when we get tortured for not adhering
to the plans.

often a christian musician's plan is to hit the top ten
that way they can potentially reach thousands of people.
and the world can be happy again...

that's some pretty stupid logic rdor that's like saying is the purpose of asking someone directions at a petrol station so that you can meet their dad and ask him to fix your broken bike at home or something

and the reason i'd want a top ten album is so that i can have MONEY and afford to travel more, and yes, ultimately so that more people can hear my music and reach thousands of people is that not what musicians who want to be rockstars in general want, there are also heaps of Christian musicians who play just at Churches and don't want to be famous too just as there are non-Christian musicians who want to be famous and not be famous

so do you want to be a rockstar JC?

I am unconvinced that having a "Top Ten" record will ensure having Money.
That said, I really like the connection to getting your Bike fixed.
Its about time we talked BMX , specifically FREE ONES here at NZMusic.
