Gig advice for young punk band

Hey we are a young punk rock band from timaru. Just wanting some advice on how to contact and/or get some gigs around the lower south island area or chch and dunedin. We have done alot of gigs in our hiome town but want to do some more elsewhere as it is a dead loss here

Forums: NZ Music,

Our band name is EET.SUM.MORR. not kronix lol

i'd probably contact Scott who runs the ReFuel venue and ask him to match you up with a likeminded band you could support. also contact Sean from the Arc venue. you should definitely contact bands you know of from these parts that you like - email them and ask for a support slot - don't be shy - cos it's a rather flattering email to receive!

also check out http://www.nzmusic.com/topic.cfm?i=14908&show=latest - which is a reference to an online discussion thaing full of advice and pointers from bands about touring all over NZ - really worth checking out. not sure but Warren from Radiant might have a copy of the Local Knowledge booklet about ... here's the Local Knowledge forum itself:

oh, everything i just typed above is Dunedin-centric (my world starts and ends in Dunedin). myspace.com is also proving to be a good resource for making touring contacts too.

I'd recommend hitting up all the bands on myspace as suggested

Also check out www.punkas.com (that's an NZ site) .. you'll find a lot of bands on there to hook up with. The forum on there is pretty uh.. 'lively' too

thatnx man. Warr en is a good guy. He let us play in his store. I will ask him bout that

also if you want to hook up with christchurch punk acts... especially younger ones like in high school/ just out of high school outofkilter can be pretty useful

I've just finished a massive story for Tearaway on all-age gigs and stuff and in the process talked to Steve from Zebedees in Chch. He seems pretty enthusiastic about getting new bands on board and playing at Zebedees. I don't know what the reputation of the place is like, but just an idea...

play a show with the rabble

Purchase a family-sized "people mover" vehicle, such as a Lucida.

...

haha yeah we have a bedford van. So travel is no problem

what style of punk? y'know shaky hands (ex nova echo) are touring south soon...
