Hello?
anyone know anything about these great brunettes?????
i heard about them a while back but never heard their music until i saw them on space a few weeks back and thought they were GREAT!!!
so if anyone knows anything about these guys plz say so.

i dunno much about them, but i saw them on space too!!!
they seem pretty awesome...yeah, i'm wondering what they're up 2 too...:)

Yaaaaaay :) Brunettes played a fabulous set at the Grey Lynn Festival today. They are so very funky :)

Hmmm.... its about time these boys/girl did another gig? Anyone know anything?

Just found out that they did an Orientation gig at Waikato Uni, 5 March - so they're still going strong - but Heather's now a redhead!!! Oh, and it seems they played Galatos on 7 march - looks like you missed out somewhat.

Brunettes play the Leigh Sawmill Cafe this Friday, 28 March, for anyone who is interested.

hey, which one is it????
the 28th of march on thursday or friday the 29th of march?????

Friday the 29th of March, according to the venue's own gig guide...

Sorry about the dates - I just put in what their manager told me and didn't think about whether they matched. Are bars even open on Good Friday?? Phone is 422 6019 - might be the best way to find out.

I think so, if its a cafe or restaurant, which that Leigh Sawmill Cafe appears to be from the sounds of things.

ohh alright thanx about the right dates, i may go and check it out!
ohh and have a good friday everyone!!!!
and happy easter!!!!!!(dont eat too many easter eggs)

This sunday on Squeeze, we have special perfromances from The Brunettes, Fang and Handsome Geoffery. The Brunettes have spent a long time recording their debut album and now hopefully it will be in stores in July. Squeeze 3:00pm Sunday.

Saw/heard the Brunettes for the first time on M2 last night - v. impressive; excellent video - were the comments (re: lack of cash to release album; video self-financed) correct? Melt-in-yr-ears pop confections; hungry for more.

As far as I know, lack of cash is the hold up preventing release of their CD - they've been playing and recording like mad for a year or so, their agent told me the same thing (no cash). I'm serously considering suggesting some sort of deal to them, because I have seen Brunettes three times so far, heard maybe half a dozen tracks they've recorded - I'd say quirky pop, rather than straight pop. Just wait till you hear their take on the problems with dating dwarfs! Then there's Talk To Jesus, Runway (aka Listen to the Crickets sing - was nominated for 2001 BFM awards), Cupid... Someone compared them to Bay City Rollers on speed!!!

They are on a couple of compilations - this year's radioactive free CD, the Arch Hill compilation from last year and I think maybe on a Bfm disc as well.

Ah, thanks - they haven't made it to Dunedin yet, but I've heard good things about them live (& randomly heard "Cupid" on Radio One today - hurrah etc). Agree with the quirky description - difficult to do kitsch straight, if nothing else (actually, NZ's got some great non-standard pop going at the moment - latest Mestar, new Pine, Brunettes . . . even Goodshirt's mainstream success . . . ).

I'll try & track down some compilations - thanks for the recommendations. Know if they're developing a website?

www.lilcheifrecords.com is the brunettes web site.
and they'll be playing at the music expo at 2:30 and at kings arms both on the 15th this weekend!!!!!!!!!
sorry trystero both in auckland.

...

You can now email the band at brunettes@lilchiefrecords.com (if you're wanting to pester them to come to your town etc).

Their official site is under construction, something should be up in a month or so (I'll keep you posted).

saw the brunettes at music expo, they were real good. it was the first time i actually seen them live.it was fun, but we had to leave in the 4th song.

My first time too. They were very cool- im impressed.Anyone Know if they have any material out?Love their song -"holding hands and feeding ducks".Im not sure if i've got the name right-i've only heard it a few times bfm.

love their song cotton candy! they are releasing "holding hands feeding ducks" on october the 21st so watch out for that might be doing some tours in december if they can get a band to support!!

The Brunettes album has been pressed and packaged and WILL be instores on October 21st!!!

This is some of the best news I've had in ages. Anyone got tracklisting/title/distributor/etc info?

Title is "Holding Hands, Feeding Ducks", they've signed to EMI, so there should be some pretty big time distribution going on, get their name/sound out there in a way that their original ideas of self release wouldn't have. Can't help with tracklisting, sorry - but its only a couple of weeks away now anyway.

Go The Brunettes~!!!

EMI?!?! Wow - I'll have to keep an eye out for interviews or the like - stunning reversal, & hopefully should give them the chance to take their twindypop to a wider audience. I'm imagining the packaging/booklet/artwork will be k-ace, & all that.

You can take a look at a pic of the cover in EMI's add in Real Groove this month. Wierdly enough, there was a review of the CD back around Christmas time I think (or was that the Lucid3 CD?).

email them and ask at therunettes@hotmail.com they are nice people theyll tell ya

they are giving away a free colouring in book if you buy the album online ! well the first few people so yea get in fast! and there will be an interview in jet and maybe xlr8 very soon!

I just listened to the mp3 samples on the site!!!

i just heard a remix of the brunettes song 'holding hands..." on a new cd called 'Fresh Jams' - and it's amazingly good. well worth a listen if you are around a cd store.
good one.

I found the brunettes email address - it's on the site. It's brunettes@lilchiefrecords.com - no that other one you said, tadpole_rock.

Does anyone know if The Brunettes are having a release party? Site says release 21st, but nothing about gigs.

So what's with the "Mars Loves Venus EP"? Has anyone got a copy? You can't buy it online.

The Brunettes are playing at the St James tomorrow night!!! can't wait!!!
I've never seen them play before so it should be a good first time for me. I'm also getting the album at the door so that's gonna be good.
I heard that it's very cute!!!

:) :) :)

the album is wicked

Holding Hands, Feeding Ducks is helluva lot of fun to listen to. Definitely an album for the summer.

Now to get a hold of that EP... and see them live :)

(Who else went to the Welly gig/s? Be nice to know how they went)

Slowboat was cool, caught about 3 songs, very cute, nice volume too.

havnt seen em live yet but they are amazing ppl

i saw them on friday night, it was the second time i saw them live. they were awesome. it was really well done, the stage had those retro little lamp shades and there were huge bean bags, it was wicked. They played really well.

I saw the Brunettes for third time at the St James. It was the best night. They had violin and cello as well which was beautiful. My favourite song is Dancefloor.
