BDO 2006

Forums: NZ Music,

My two cents...

Gerling - Madness
Pluto - Better suited to smaller more "intimate" venues
Sleater-Kinney - Fucking awesome. Band o' the day.
The Magic Numbers - Too happy and cheesey and hair swingy
James Murphy - Dunno cuz that fucking Savage was still on the stage when he was supposed to have started
The Go! Team - very awesome, Ninja is the coolest front woman/dancer combo ever
Kings of Leon - Pretty damn good, but I couldn't see jack shit
Shihad - Boo-urns. Boring. Stale.
Henry Rollins - Like a crazy ranting blogger (what I saw)
Franz Ferdinand - good if you're a fan I guess, but I got restless
Iggy Pop - Like "Stuart" from MADTV, and not that interesting to watch when you don't know the songs and can barely see him anyway.
The Mars Volta - Started out promising, but they took too long to come out and I was already feeling the effects of the long day and frankly didn't care enough to stay for more than ten minutes
The White Stripes - good, but I just wanted to lie down and die

So overall.. Big Day Out 2006 gets a disappointing C+ from me.

// James Murphy - Dunno cuz that fucking Savage was still on the stage when he was supposed to have started

James Murphy was easily the highlight of my day, wow. Soulwax were the pleasant suprise of the day, they rocked the boileroom. 2 Many Djs were good and bad...but that sequence where they mixed around with Blue Monday - Song 2 - Funky Town and then that classic old Prodigy track was fucken ace!

Really odd...all my favorite acts this year were in the boileroom. Am i turning into a rave bunny?

Interesting. I was all set to leave good old Dunedin on Tuesday and drive up to the BDO, but then I watched what people were saying about it and became less and less enthusiastic as the day wore on. The only band I really really wanted to see was Sleater-Kinney, but the rest of the line up was either average or already seen several times (i.e. White Stripes). I got about ten miles up the road before I decided a C+ BDO just wasn't worth the candle.

//Really odd...all my favorite acts this year were in the boileroom. Am i turning into a rave bunny? //

The rave acts weren't as hyped as the rock acts so were more unexpected for me, unlike the Go Team! and Sleater Kinney some of the boiler room stuff was fun and interesting. Having said that my nap during sleater kinney lead me to be fully refeshed for the rest of the night.

Haha, blink, those acts all have huge indie cred - much more so than in club circles.

Did James Murphy DJ or do his LCD Soundsystem stuff or what? Always a bit skeptical how one man band stuff works out live.

Chuck the mixes from the DFA records site on your iriver, they're spiffing. Someone pointed out to me there's that real blind spot between older rock & dance tracks and then suddenly v. contemporary - his mixes definitely show he's a pretty recent convert to going to clubs... in fact I think I read that he hated dance music till Tim, the other half of DFA, got him pilled up and into the clubs in New York.

And because it's very vaguely on-point, I have to take yet another opportunity to hype the DFA released track 'Casual Friday' by The Black Leotard Front. It's just incredible. Disco has more room for innovation than indie rock, eh?

Me:

Gramsci - well, hardly anyone was there that early in the day. Pretty damn boring, actually.
Greenhornes - the day's unexpected treat - though the bassist looked as if he stepped off the set of Revenge of the Nerds
Sleater-Kinney - missed these girls, unfortunately...
The Magic Numbers - cheesy is right - yeesh...
Breaks Co-op - good, for the most part, though we could've done without the technical problems. Wonder was a highlight...
Kings of Leon - didn't see much of them - Milk was a bit of a disappointment, though...
Shihad - I had a bit of a snooze in the stands during much of the set - though I caught the last ten minutes or so and liked it.
Franz Ferdinand - great goofy funky fun
Iggy Pop - what a performance! Showmanship at its finest!
The Mars Volta - was at Iggy - damn!
The White Stripes - this was my highlight of the day. The slot was still too short, though, and I felt they rushed through their set just a tad. Jack screeched thorugh most of his vocals, but no real problem there - except maybe when he came to Ball and Biscuit. They did the stage up really nice for the perfomance, too. The 7 Nation Army encore blew me away.

Other highlights: the girls in bikini-tops, the guys making dicks of themselves on the waterslide, the watermelon (yeaaah!)

Oh, and that drizzly tunnel-thingee was wonderful...

Overall, it was nice being there for the day. Some more big-name acts would've been OK.

cant believe anyone hasn't mentioned...

The Brunettes - covering Bachman Turner Overdrive's 'Takin care of business' .. rockin (at least it was in the adjacent beer garden)

Wolfmother - finally the sound engineers got their shit sorted, sounded as it should - LARGE

The Mars Volta - unbelievable performance, but shoot the sound guy.. NOT ENOUGH BASS MAN! Hardly did Juan and his 26 pedals any justice. but simply seeing Ikey bouncing round his keyboards on the side was fuckin entertaining

Ryan Martinie of Mudvayne - sure everyone hates em and their singer should just pack up and quit, but no one does looking like a skeleton with the skin pulled over it too tight while playing bass in ways that defy the laws of physics like he does

Fat Freddys - One of the few times I thought their performance was average.. but golden moment in Wandering Eye when every kid who's heard it on ZM starts hollering the chorus when they're only half way through their 10 minute build up. sorry, for those of you who dont know (80% of the crowd by the sounds of it), these guys dont do songs in nice little 3 1/2 minute packages live.

and the cringe/red-hot-anger moments:

- The drunk idiot yelling 'FUCK OFF' and 'NEEEXT' while Hank Rollins was delivering one of the most marvellous oratories I've heard since I last played my Bill Hicks cds. 200 people yelling at this kid to fuck off and die and he still didnt get the picture. moron

- End Of Fashion. They may have some catchy shit on the radio for those who like it, but gawddam, quite simply the most BORING generic rubbish band I mistakenly stumbled across that day

- Blindspott- and their singer doing the first three songs completely off key before the sound tech got the Autotune plugin working through mic channel. To be honest I was looking forward to seeing how the new lineup might bolster their live performance, maybe it was the sound, but nothing any 'meaner' or 'heavier' there.

my big week out:

tuesday shihad was alright

wednesday shihad was much better (not just because of screwtop)

thursday sleater kinney was very good, better than i expected

friday arrived in time for pluto thought they did well on the main stage. sleater kinney wrecked my hearing but it was good. didnt think much of whoever was on after them. unfortunately heard blindspott and elemenop. kings of leon were more listenable than i expected. shihad i thought had best performance/entertainment of the day rivalled only by iggy. franz ferninand were nice. iggy wsa entertaining but i didnt know anything. the white stripes sounded like they had some dots but they didnt connect them.

overall it probably wasnt worth going after the previous three nights.

Alrighty.

Thursday Night:
Sleater-Kinney were great - nice little mosh pit, kick arse songs, pretty songs, nice venue... a fantastic time. Was not impressed by Teenwolf at all.

Friday:
Gerling made me laugh pretty much constantly, and when not laughing - I was groovin to the bass - it was a bit loud right in front of the stage, so watched most of this from the stands.
Pluto started up... but didn't grab me - so I went elsewhere...
Food, Lilyworld (spotted Noizyboy - Hi!,) exploration, markets for aviators, etc...
Then Sleater-Kinney again. Corin was more active in front of the big crowd... Carrie was just as rawk. Huge sound - new songs come across REALLY well live. Definately a highlight.
The Magic Numbers were a bit too twee for me after huge rocking Sleater-Kinney... checked out a song - it was nice enough.
Popped over to the bank for a sit down and a drink... Blindspot provided a surprisingly nice backdrop to our conversations (couldn't see them - but they were rockin.) Actually decided that maybe I should have a look because I was being impressed... stood up - and Elemenop started. Bugger. I think they are bad... and annoying.
Headed back to Green to see The Go! Team... but Breaks Co-Op were playing... and they were boring and very very loud. Sound guys tried to get them off stage, but they wouldn't leave - WE HAVE 1 MORE SONG! ARE YOU LISTENING OUT THERE?
So The Go! Team came out, then went backstage for the last Breaks Co-Op song (where are the Breaks in Breaks Co-Op, eh?)... then came running out again!
The Go! Team were really going for it - running constantly, everything nearly falls apart - someone runs and fixes something, then they break into funky 70s dance stuff, and that Brady Bunch bass player - such a smile on that guy. I dug it. My friends did not like it at all. 2 1/2 songs and we were moving again.
The Kings Of Leon were fantastic. They didn't play any of their songs that I hate... what they did play was well done, brilliant voice on that guy - and the second guitarist's sonic experimentation was a pleasant surprise.
Shihad freaked me out - HUGE lights, big cheesy arena rock performance. these guys still wanna be ACDC, apparently, and they're closer to that goal than they've ever been... if they keep it up and build enough of a young, beer drinking audience... they'll be sweet as... but they aren't for me anymore.
Then a rush to catch some Henry Rollins. I heard the last 5 minutes or so... he did a very nice wrap up... positive messages for the kids - and an exciting mention of him jumping up on stage with Iggy.
Then Wolfmother. I was kinda excited about seeing these guys... but they really didn't do it for me. Good stage performance and whatnot (windmills and high kicks and stuff - nothing as good at Carrie from Sleater-Kinney, though)... but all the songs are textbook 70s rock music. Nothing interesting going on musically at all. Damn shame. Dissapointed. I think the description of them as a 70's version of The Darkness is quite apt.
Then off to catch Franz Ferdinand being all dandy and poppy. Much louder and rocker than recordings... a nice performance of some very cool songs.
Then left early to catch the start of The Mars Volta (had to sit through a really shitty Bleeders song or two - Auckland seems to be obsessed with these guys... who are pretty much Good Charlotte, aren't they? Weird.)... but then there was a 20-30 minute wait for soundcheck. Never mind - had a sit down in the crowd (always a very surreal experience.) When they did start... it did indeed take a while for them to get going, and I considered looking for some Iggy action... but, knowing the company I was in, there was never any chance of leaving before the first song was finished - so I stayed. And by God did they rev up. The extended intro was worth the time taken. Huge complex arrangements, brilliant syncopation and communication between members, crazy sounds... flawless flow of ideas. I got completely sucked in by this fantastic band, and completely missed Iggy Pop and The Stooges (my only regret of the day - but a neccessary one.)
Then caught the end of The White Stripes - and am very glad I did. Nice wee encore - nice dancing in the stands - nice lights and HUGE guitar sound.
Then the Human Tesla Coils started up... I was astounded and delighted. (got some great photos, too.)
Finally, Fat Freddy's Drop. I got into the initial fuss about these guys... then cooled off as Dub took over Wellington a bit too much for my liking. But now... these guys have become a very tight and enjoyable performing unit. The slow extended grooves were perfect to end the day on. Very very good, and unlike anything else. I'm so proud of those guys. Agree that the ZM crowd didn't know how to take it (I heard someone say "aw come on - they have to play "it"" after they announced that the next song is the last one.) Could quite happily have gone without the clumsy freestyle (P-Diggs was a nice guest when he was harmonising, but choked when he got a go for Freestyle... at least Dallas held it together,) but that little slump in the set didn't decrease my enjoyment of the rest.

I had a fantastic day.

... and there is no way I'm going back over that post to edit it into cohesiveness...

big fibber

you so did
not miss
the stooges for
the
mars volta

I speak only truths.

I saw a little Autozamm in passing. Bland, bland, bland Foo Fighters style jump around rock.

//where are the Breaks in Breaks Co-Op, eh?// Each to their own, NiceGuyEddie, and not wanting to be a repetitive old woman, but if you are interested, which you may not be, and fair do's to you, I would suggest Track 2 - Wonder - and Track 8 - Question of Freedom - from their album, and the Bside of their single - can't let you go. I was told that the sound was shite at BDO, and that seems to have been the whole not very good sound man thing going on. Shame, but them's the breaks......

//them's the breaks......
Snigger.

I really aren't interested... but good on you for being!

i dont
understand

Stand outs for me were (in no particular order)

Iggy Pop - 3rd row - that was awesome

Che Fu - the first white stripes song sounded boring, and we decided to go wandering - and found Che Fu - they did a cover of Shihad's Home Again, with the DJ playing the record for it, and then The Krates (Che Fu's backing band) and the DJ swapping for a bar each, then half a bar, then beat by beat for a bar - perfectly in time - man, THAT was awesome

Autozamm - Even though small crowd - everyone over at Blindspott for some reason (is it just me, or does anyone else find Blindspott boring??) - but despite small crowd they were awesome - good jump around Foo Fighters type rock

The Subways - from England - simple chord structures (the type you only get with the untainted creativity of youth) - the singer had a good voice - and the bass player was hot

Franz Ferdinand - were as expected - jumping pop-rock - would've been better if I was in the mosh, or even in the inner circle, but was good light fun nonetheless.

Surprising were Stereogram - didn't think I'd enjoy them much, but there were a couple of songs that were good - and not just the singles - although overall the songs kinda start sounding the same after a while

Henry Rollins - he was also good - damn funny - and he convinced us to go to Iggy Pop - which was well worth it - (yes, we decided to by-pass Shihad - I'd just seen them at Wgtn Town Hall last year anyways)

Disappointments:

The Mars Volta - Ok - so only caught the last 20 mins of their set, and maybe it was better at the start, but by the time I got there, they'd transgressed into "wanky noise syndrome"

Elemeno P - don't like these guys much anyway - but they sounded bad, and looked like they shouldn't have been on the main stage (although, a little forgiven since it was their first time there)

Fat Freddys Drop - These guys would be good on a summers day with a picnic, but to watch standing at the end of the night, not the best - long intros that seemed to go no where, so we left before the rush

Well - that was a long post - anybody else thoughts on the day?

BDO was quicked, this year I took a more relaxed appoarch, was only in 1 mosh for Deja Voodoo, and only saw 1 full set of the main stage & that was the Living End.
High lights for me, were the Mars Volta who are awesome, they are really getting more prog rock now with percussion, brass/woodwind & samples. Sleater-Kinney (saw them the night before at Kings Arms which was a lot better, I should buy their cd), Die! Die! Die! who as normal put on a great show (saw them the night after at Kings Arms as well). The Living End were very entertaing.
Didn't see all of Iggy/Stooges set, about 20-30mins, I was so far back I couldn't see shit!! so I went and saw Mars Volta instead, since they were the main reason I went.

I found Franz Ferdinand boring, so went and watched Wolfmother instead.
Caught the end of The White Stripes, Jack's guitar playing sounded all over the place, couldn't see Meg (I was in the stands)
The Greenhornes were kinda cool in a geeky sorta way, their songs sound fimilar for some reason.
The Snecks were fun band to watch.

//could see Meg (I was in the stands)

that should be 'couldn't see' dumb ass!!

It was the most relaxing BDO I’ve ever been to. Fewer people, less stress, no queues! The sun had the good sense to cloud over every now and then too, so it didn’t get too hot. (I did avoid the moshpits, though, so it may be another story there).

Big ups:
Sleater-Kinney – fabulously good. They have such a huge sound for a three-piece.
Iggy and the Stooges – bendy fun for all!
The Greenhornes – a group I’d never heard of before the day – great pop songs, easy to boogey to.
The Bats – my word, how I love the Bats.

Big downs:
- The stupid babygoth who decided to sit in the middle of thousands of dancing Franz Ferdinand fans. She had the gall to glare at anyone who accidentally jostled/tripped over her.
- Steriogram – horrible.

Other than *her*, and *them* an excellent day.

//The Bats – my word, how I love the Bats.

I so second that. People who didn't go see them missed something quite brilliant

I concur, Franrose.

*grin*

Well, ws my first BDO this year, and I thoroughly enjoyed it. Saw more bands in the 10 hours I was there than in the 4 days I spend at Parachute....

So many great bands, Deja Voodoo, Mudvayne, The Living End, Fat Freddy's Drop, Shihad, Franz Ferdinand....

Was really disappointed in Blindspott.... And disturbed myself with the amount of bad hip-hop I listenend to... Gutted I missed Sleater-Kinney though....

10th one....and a really flat atmosphere all day.....

A number of bands suffered from really bad sound which was not their fault - what the fuck was up with that?!? Even Rollins - who said "How hard can it be to get one man and a microphone right?". By all accounts the lighting was crap a few times too.

Started with Sola Rosa - didn't make much of an impression
Moved on to Raygunn - okay but no one watching and the boiler room drowning them out...
Baiter Cell for a couple of songs....okay again I guess
Very annoyed Sleater Kinney came on at 2.30 and not 2.40 as the program stated so I missed the one song I wanted to hear.....not to mention those stages had the one really bad choke point
Magic Numbers were pretty boring....
Go Team - got ripped off with their sound, had potential but the Bats beckoned..
And were really great - a definite unexpected highlight

Die! were cool as usual and the Sneaks were awesome too. Move that stage AWAY from the boiler room!
Kings were boring
Shihad put on a good show and I thought had the biggest sound of the day
Soulwax - what little I saw was great! A surprise.
Shapeshifter were cool
Franz seemed good for the two songs I saw
IGGY!!!!!!MIKE WATT!!!!!!!IGGY!!!!!!!MIKEWATT!!!!!!!!
15 minutes of Mars....very technical but reminded me a bit of Pink Floyd on speed....
And that was pretty much me....bit of concord to round it off before sneaking away on the bus.....

Overall disappointing really. Always worth the money given the sheer volume of music but lack of atmosphere and the rank sound......

This was my first Big Day Out ever and it made a pretty good impression...

I kept getting lost...

I spent way way too much on merchandise ie, my "Vote for Pedro" shirt that everyone was like "Dude I LOVE YOUR SHIRT OMG OMG OMG!" to...

Anyway, being a BDO virgin, i didn't know what to expect really and only managed to watch four bands in the mosh pits.

I caught a glimpse of Gerling, pretty nifty, as well as the F#cked computer thing, I might even buy an album.

Firstly, Pluto. Didn't expect much because I only knew two of their songs but they were brilliant...to me anyway. The clapping in Dance Stamina was sexy, specially up front and center where I was. I was stupid enough though to bring a huge camping bag and flip flops to this...lucky i brought my chuxs(?). The initial shock of moshing faded and i stopped crying for mommy. That babababa song, i forget, was pretty cool too. I ended up buying their album at the sounds tent and getting it signed.

After that, I went from band to band to band like a hermit. Took me ages to realise they had a signing tent. I also ended up buying a Kings of Leon CD to get signed. While I was waiting in the signing line for Kings of Leon...like a 12 year old teeny bopper...I caught glimpses of The Magic Numbers, quite pleasant actually if not a little christiany.

Leaving the tent after my embarassing signing (seeing as I didn't know who the lead singer was, besides the fact that I've memorised all their songs...) I got bombarded by a hundred midgets screaming at me because I got it signed and they were cut off. Sucks to be them.

Waited for hours to get money out of the eftpos stall thing. Was almost late for Kings of Leon until I saw some tall guy just streaming in so i just followed him and wham, got front center again.
Kings of Leon were freakishly still but still enjoyable. King of the Rodeo and Molly's Chambers were pretty spanky and Taper Jean girls was pretty good too...

Later, Franz Ferdinand was discreetly polite moshing. I mean, I had no feelings of being crushed in this one. I didn't even almost fall over once. Front Center again, freaking out because I have no idea how i got there. Wasn't much of a fan but enjoyed it nonetheless.

Later later, White Stripes were like a total contrast. Into the first song, six girls around me fainted. Yep, front center again. I started cursing silently to every 4 foot girl around me trying to handle...they simply couldn't. When the guy in front of me started bleeding and some lady was vomiting on people, i decided to drift back a bit...and plus My legs hurt and stuff. I wasn't alone in the decision as I hear a resounding "fuc# this" and i enjoyed the rest further back but still pretty close. The Encore was in fact nice. I wouldn't remember though, I was in a weird daze.

Couldn't be stuffed watching Fat Freddy's so i went home.

I wish I watched the Go! Team...and even Sleater Kinney. Ah well.

All in all, enjoyable. Loved it. Going again next year, no matter who's playing. :)

//

Glad you didn't hear me calling you guys a bunch of retards. I mean yeah it's funny when you first see it standing out from the crowd. But a big posse with all the same t-shirt's just made you as a group look like goobs...

I was just thinking, who the fuck is Pedro??

See Napoleon Dynamite, Tama Drummer.

See Kung Fu Hustle

Heck yeah. Much better than Shaolin Soccer.

See Attack the Gas Station!

I'm pretty sure no one else that was with me was wearing one but sure, be rude, I don't care.

ha! I remember now!!

// I'm pretty sure no one else that was with me was wearing one but sure, be rude, I don't care.

No offense, but are you a tallish chubby guy? I saw a tallish chubby guy wearing one. Those t-shirts are like iPods. Every man and his dog seem to have them now.

no...the asian guy wearing shorts...i stayed away from the tallish chubby guy after i saw him buying 20 of those shirts.

and it may be like an i-pod in auckland but here in wellington, i've never seen one.

http://www.ofi.shorturl.com ]

//Those t-shirts are like iPods. Every man and his dog seem to have them now.

yeah it sucks. I bought one off ebay before they were cool... Hell I had one before nepolean dynamite was even cool...now like sheep and the slow up take that NZ has when it comes to trends sure enough I have almost abandoned the wearing of my shirt, its cool when you are the only one but when you turn the corner and almsot every single fucker has a shirt like that it just becomes lame and embaressing.

The funny thing is everyone thinks they are first to have one...Except me because I was the first ;)

I also have a shirt with nepoleans face and a caption " but my lips hurt real bad" underneath it, i had to buy the two shirts together.

Imagine how I feel, having had an actual bidding war on trademe for one of those shirts in February last year, with the intention of giving it to a boy who proved to be entirely unworthy?

Now it's still sitting in my wardrobe, and I'll never fob it off since it's become so inherently uncool.

"Vote For Pedro" shirts are ALL over America. Available at Hot Topic, the trendy indy goth chain store in every American Mall.

Actually, they're pretty cool stores if you pick and choose what you buy.

Hmm, it was a good BDO but not a great one. Especially since it seemed that all the sound guys were newbies or just hopeless.

I caught some of Pluto, who sounded great and then headed off to the Bolier room to check out Edan. Aside from the technical problems, the flow between him and the other MC was fantastic.

I then caught some of Sleater-Kinney, who sounded quite good, however they didn't quite click with me. I did enjoy the Magic Numbers, especially "Love Me Like You". They seem to kick it up a notch for that song.

I didn't get into DJ James Murphy when he started his set so I went off for food and bummed around a bit. I did however catch a significant part of the end of his set (as things were running late) waiting for Soulwax and it was going off. Soulwax didn't disappoint and I am glad they played some songs from Much Against Everyone's Advice; "Too Many DJs" is a great song live. I was wondering how they were going to pull off NY Excuse and it was awesomer to hear the Nite Versions, err, version.

As I left the Boiler room, Die! Die! Die! were just finishing and they seemed to have put on a crazy set as always. I am not sure how they stack up in an outside environment compared to a more intimate venue though.

Shihad played a solid set, though Tom Larkin's kick drum was too bassy for "Home Again" and Jon Toogood played the "crowd sing-a-long" card a few too many times.

What I caught of Wolfmother sounded ok. I quite like the single. There songs seemed to blend into one, then again I wasn't paying too much attention.

The Mars Volta is where I started to really scratch my head. Tehcnical delays that seemed to be related to the sound, especially the main mic from what I can gather really put a damper on the anticipation. Also, once they finally got on stage I couldn't hear Cedric's voice for jack. I don't think he had much vocals in the foldback either as he kept motioning time and time again to the soundguy to up the volume. A few songs you could hear the vocals really well and the crowd singing along was so cool.

I was hoping Common would be an awesome way to end the night and I was disappointed. He had a few good moments but his delivery didn't connect. He was jumping around, really enthusiastic yet it didn't translate in the vocals.

My main gripe is when all the idiots that are walking in a line and have a lot of people behind them, because surprise, surprise it is the only way to go, stop. Look around. Talk on their phone. Stretch a little, while everyone else is trying to get past. Common sense and courtesy would be nice. Also getting out of the field after Common was madness. You think left for going out, right for coming in. Nope, how about let's just walk into people and see how we go?

//You think left for going out, right for coming in. Nope, how about let's just walk into people and see how we go?

Actually was trying to do that, I think after Fat Freddys or Mars Volta, but since it was dark and loads of people, you couldn't see the fence between the two

//Shihad played a solid set, though Tom Larkin's kick drum was too bassy for "Home Again" and Jon Toogood played the "crowd sing-a-long" card a few too many times.//

see, that's the thing that's putting me off Shihad. Every card is played too many times and they just seem to be... a big... cliche.

Just my opinion of course.. i know a lot of people still love them... and I used to, but now they make me cringe.

you are
all lying

no one here has enough respect for The Iggy, He of father of the Stooges.

I am so fckd off i could not get to BDO this year. But having seen Kings of Leon, Mars Volta and the White Stripes before it was only really Iggy and maybe James Murphy that i was keen for.....

I can't believe the lack of raves about Iggy. The man is a legend. It was insane in a wonderful, violent, magical way.
I walked away with bruised tits and a fat lip.
But I've never been happier.
