Who has band practice for six hours? And by "practice", I don't mean watching DVDs and getting stoned/drunk. If you're really practicing for that long, you must be pretty tired by the end of it.

Well theres a place down next too the Ballroom Cafe (newtown just out of Mt Cook) where we practise - costs about $10/hour with no PA (but is soundproofed and secure). There should be a contact number on the door - can't remember off the top of my head...
Other option is the WCC Arts Centre down near Real Groovy - rooms from about $12/hour is average, got storage and security - check the phone book it'll be listed there. They should have some space available.

See I use a practise space because I don't like being inconsiderate of my neighbours. No PA is no big fuss, nothing that can't be solved with an extra guitar amp - it's not like we need dozens of mics (actaully we only need one). Most practise spaces in Wellington don't seem to have PA's from what I've seen (and if they do they charge like a wounded bull for them by the hour)...

If anyone is interested, the new Wellington Arts Centre (two buildings in back of the Cuba Street Real Groovy Records), has 3 sound-proofed practice rooms in our ground floor/basement level. Hourly rates are $6-15, depending on room size and time of day. To have a look, or book practice time, contact Seamus Arnel on 385-1929 or seamus.arnel@wcc.govt.nz or call in at the main reception (61 Abel Smith buiding). There is no PA, but if enough bands request one, we could look into equipping the larger practice room with a decent rig to hire out as well.
