Forums: Bands,

Isnt it stardRunk??-or did i get it wrong AGAIN?? oh well the point is theyre brilliant-try mp3.com & i dunno where else for their shit. its definitely worth checking out!

as long as we're talking about the same band here, it's definitely 'Stardrunk' - one word, one band, bloody good. i have their second LP which is entiltled 'overstay' and i tell you what, the five songs are the best five songs i have heard come out of tauranga in a long while. i saw them live a week or two ago in hamilton, which is where i am, at the 'nine bands for no bucks' concert, and they rocked my world. they have a wicked live performance, and if the opportunity arises, i totally recommend shooting down and seeing them for yourself... this is nz music at its fucken best, ladies and gentlemen

yeah quitch, i got in touch with their drummer a few days back (hey it's my only claim to fame, i have to use it sometime) and he said that they're getting a distribution deal for their new cd, and it should go over the the nth island and possibly the top o' the south.

also a tour happening sometime next year, so just get out there and see them people...... good music :)

best nz band i've heard in a long while......... 'nuff said.

cant get overstay in napier =( dammit...........oh well im passing thru hamilton next weekend i think so maybe then!

A friend of mine, Nina told me these guys rock! whats the deal with these boys? have they got 2 records? How come i havent heard of them earlier. Do they play many gigs...

as far as i know.... theyre quite recently formed, play mostly round the hamilton/tauranga area, have 2 eps out the most recent of which is called overstay. try mp3.com-theres a link from there to the artists website i think.

Have only recently linked onto this nzmusic page to find if there is anything on my mates and it appears there is. So yes I will agree with you entirely Stardrunk are absolutely a wicked watch and I recommend their latest album "Overstay" which outdoes their previous album with their new songs. Just going to show they are only getting better. All the best guys.

Saw these guys at the Kings Arse a month ago... fuckin impressive.

i cant believe these guys are unsigned, they absolutely rocked at the music expo. they have such an impressive sound.I want to see more!#!%$^ where where where will they play next?

saw the Fallen video on m2. wicked stuff! where can we see you play???

Stardrunk are playing with Stadium and Stylus on 25th july in Auckland, 26th july in Hamilton and 27th July in Tauranga. Go to stylus.net.nz to see where abouts if your keen.

no all ages :(

I thought I was the only one who called it "The Kings Arse"???? Cool, like minds and shit. Last time I seened these boys they were semi unplugged at the temple. Fricken brilliant, lots of stage presence and stuff. They rock like nobodys bananas.

my god please stop.

who? the fans or the band?

I saw stardrunk last night at the king arms/arse they were bloody awesome, knocked my sox off.
hate to sound like a teenybopper but the lead singer is also a major babe.. sorry
but seriously, they rock

heh i agree

Stardrunk on Space this friday 10:30pm TV2 :D:D congratulations on winning battle of the bands :D!! yay!

ooh and who are the lucky buggers that got to see them tonite in hamilton AND be in their new vid?

wicked performance of 'Fallen' on space guys :D

Hell yeah and the vid is pretty awesome aswell.
Also I reckon the lead singer so does look like Dominic Bowden - long lost brothers maybe?

hehe its possible :)

I saw Stardrunk open for slim / Blindspot / PACIFIER > last night... and I'm pleased to say the were f#*kin awesome!! I hadn't seen or heard them play before, so had no real expectations - but they certainly went off, & they amped everyone up for one kick-arse night of rock n' roll!!!

saw them 2, were huge as always. Hope everyones coming to 9 bands 4 no bucks this year going to be a huge day. Had a talk to them the other nite at tauranga and the new video for bi-polar sounds like it's going to be huge.

Stardrunk is a great 21th century band, with soft, 'swimmy', icy music.. really easy-listening. This band should have more chances. I like them and I would buy a cd if I could.

more gigs on the way for auckland....stay tuned folks. Also some all ages stuff being organised so hang on to your hudders!!

A post as promised. Fantastic to see you at Opus... pity it wasn't longer.. and louder ;) Stupid upstairs party!

Thanks muchly for the EP... hopefully see you lot Thursday in Hammers.

Yeah... not really the ideal venue for a rock thing... I'm suprised we got away with playing as long as we did! Glad you liked the show, the Hamilton show should be a bit less 'restrained'...

Yeah it was a bit random playing in a cafe ay! oh well.. at least you played :) if we don't make it down to Hamiltron we will be sure to see you in the near future.. you can count on it!

I'm gonna say big thanks for the CD as well.

Hey guys cool gig last night. It was weird going to see a band in a restraunt but we decided to make the most of it and bought dinner. It's a shame we didn't get to see indicator dogs, but i'll see them next time. At least we got to see you guys cause you don't play in auck much :P

Get in touch with me and we'll sort out an all ages show in Auckland next time :D

yay!

How was Altitude last night.......??

STARDRUNK'S NEW BIGGEST FAN

Stardrunk made my night at the Altitude on Friday night.

I was really looking forward to the Indicator Dogs who were really tight and had a really full sound about them - Wolf the vocalist was really meanicing, but they failed to ignite the place.

Enter Stardrunk...

It has been about 6 months since I have seen Stardrunk perform and man have they improved!!

They came out firing with the song 'Frontline' quickly followed up by the cult classic 'Fallen' off of their Overstay Ep.

It wasn't really the music that sold the band - rather the way they performed it. They were bouncing all over the stage and you could tell that they were really enjoying themselves.

The audience really responded to this as after about the third song the whole place was up moshing! - This was really something as the other two bands had no-one up.

The rest of their set was filled with mostly new songs supplemented by some songs off of their Ep.

This was one of the rare occassions when a band's new songs went down well with everyone staying up the front and getting into the band as opposed to forcing everyone back to the seats.

I know it is cliche as but, put simply Stardrunk rocked!!!!

By the end of their set I was fizzing for more and my only complaint of the night would be that they didn't do encore despite my best attempts to get them to do one.

Anyhow I can't wait for their album and in the mean time I am gonna get the Overstay Ep out of my Cd Rack and play it all weekend.

.....just who were those girls flashing their boobies? i didn't see it myself, from what i hear i really missed out dammit!
highlights of the last few gigs for me:
-watching dylan use the carpet out of the subaru for a drum mat at opus
-andrew in devonport, "look it's that guy who does the news!" who john campbell? "nah the other c#@t"!
-the breakfast that linda cooked us
-andrew lost in auckland, "ask that old c#@t"!
-watching wolf do his thing
-the altitude crowd...fek that was fun!

big ups to indicator dogs, mightyscoop, linda and millie and everyone who has been helpin us out. we'll be announcing some pretty huge shows soon as part of our (dr evil voice) "AUSTRALASIAN TOUR"
get along if you can!!

http://www.stardrunk.com ]

oooo i forgot my best highlight of all!
-dylan walking straight into a glass door and knocking himself to the ground!!! ohhhh man...that was weeks ago and i'm still getting good laugh mileage out of it!! heheheheheh

Cheers to all the crazy Hamilton crew that came to see us on Thursday or Friday at Altitude - the shows were heaps of fun, and everyone's support was huge. Thanks to the Indicator Dogs and Abstract Thought for making noise with us.

And in case you you're wondering... no.. Aden doesn't have any broken limbs after his stunt dive on Friday... I think his guitar lead must have broken his fall... lucky it was plugged in... I thought he was a gonner from where I was sitting.
