hi im an up and coming actor on the acclaimed NZ drama SHortland Street...so you know i dont have much spare time to mess around on the net. i came across this site because well i am a music fan like everyone else who posts here. my post is in reply to all the stuff people were saying in August about music in general not having the soul it used to. well really i think its like different strokes for different folks...just because music today might not hit some people in the way the music they listened to back in their 'hay day' did it doesnt mean it doesnt hit someone else in a special way. musical taste is a personal choice and while i resepct peoples right to an opinion it doesnt mean that one persons opinions have to be forced on others. so old mate might like Tom Petty and pretty little ditty might like Blindspott and thats fine, whatever floats ya boat i guess....but dont dismiss someone elses taste in music just because its not the same as yours.

Jeez Shorters, looks like you've left Foetusboy speechless with the power of your fame. Fortunately for me, one of my mate's cousins used to be on NZ's second favourite drama (go Coro St!) so the bright light of your rising star won't leave me dumbstruck.
Having said that, I pretty much agree with your comments - but I don't really think anyone is forcing their opinions on anyone else on NZM. Some of us may be a little more fanatical (what the hell happened to Toady anyway?) but most of the discussion here is pretty healthy and posters pretty much always mean well.

people do have their own opinions but that doesn't mean we can't disagree with them. then there would be practically no purpose in having forums, where evryone hammers out their differences and argues for their bands........ mate if the zed lovers just lay down and accepted their punishment, how boring would this site be?
one of the things that annoys me most is when people tell me to stop talking or arguing for what i believe. im the first to admit i post alot, some would say ALOT.... but hey it's everybody's right, and people can't stop you. that's why i liked toady.... everyone told him to shut up (including me) but he didnt care.......he loved blindspott and he also loved lots of exclamation marks. its the people that are obsessed, the people that are argumentative, the people that are inflammatory, controversial and opinionated that make this site fun to visit.
im sure you'll have fun on shortland street.... you up and coming actor you.... HOPEFULLY you'll find some spare time to grace us with your presence again.

I hope you don't think I was trying to lash anyone... I can only speak for my own tastes. But I reckon forums are places to share opinions on, so I'm not gonna say 'oh, o.k., everythings cool if you like it, unless you don't...' Which doesn't really communicate anything about the music I REALLY LOVE. I mean, there are some bands out there making music that I passionately, intensely enjoy. If I can turn someone on to them, then great. Does it mean they can't listen to anyone alse? No. What music really gets you going, shortlandst?

There is no need to be defensive- we all pay this site a visit because we like to hear + share different opinions on music. I'm always happy to hear what you have to say, and I agree that different people like different things.
That's why I'm here, anyway.
As for the Shorties thing, well I'm shocked. I put myself out there everytime I admit to the world that I'm actually a foetus. I think we all need to step up, get real with ourselves. BTW, how does that work with you, PEACHES_HEAD? Preserved or whole? Shortland Street is kinda like Neighbours, except it's set in a hospital with doctors and nurses.
