A LOW HUM is Back!!!

It's been a long, sleep filled, relaxing six months since I took some bands around the country and released a compilation and It's about time I stopped looking after myself, got my ass of the couch and got back out on the road.

A LOW HUM series two finished earlier in the year in April and A LOW HUM series three doesn't kick in till early next year, but I've put together a teaser tour to fill the gap very nicely.

There will be no issue of A LOW HUM magazine with entry to this tours shows… but instead you will receive a copy of A LOW HUM DVD#2, the kick ass follow-up to last years bNet nominated DVD. This years 4 hour DVD blows away last years miniscule 2 hour effort 'cause as well as music videos it features heaps of extras like Documentary's, alternate endings, unreleased clips, directors commentary's, tour films, live videos and heaps more! For a full listing of what's on the DVD, check out the website, link below.

And of course, the best part, the show!

So So Modern have set Wellington alight with their mad blend of disco punk and they've set Wellington 's ovens alight with their mad blend of cakes and muffins. They are the cats pyjama's, I think they wear the cats pyjama's and if you don't feel the need to dance while watching them, you are certainly not the cats pyjama's. I don't quite know how to describe their sound, but they make me dance the electric wookie.

Then that must make TeenWolf THEelectric wookie and they have the coolest name in the country (apart from So So Modern ), but this isn't just a tour of bands with the coolest names, TeenWolf are also a piece of cats clothing, maybe the cats straitjacket? If I was at a loss to describe So So Modern , I won't even begin to describe TeenWolf , they reckon they sound like The Gilmour Girls and a punch in the face and If that sounds like your kind of night out, then party.

Are you still reading? Well done. Here are the tour dates:

This tour also doubles as a release party for A LOW HUM's "Local Knowledge" which you will also receive a free copy of. Local Knowledge is a guide that shares the knowledge gained by heaps of different bands, promoters and music fans about touring the country. This guide is essential for any band and music fan in this country (well… most of ‘em)

That's a pretty tidy little package. A 4 Hour DVD, a touring guide and a kick ass show.

Thanks so much to the visionary folk at Jack Daniels, Phantom Billstickers and The NZmusic Commision for supporting A LOW HUM & Local Knowledge. Cheers to RDU, Active, Contact, RadioControl, R1 and FleetFM for spreading the word over the airwaves.

And a big hug to all the bands who gave their videos to the cause.

Forums: NZ Music,

you ain't hugging me unless you trim the beard buster - ewwww!

Cheecheewaawaa!

sorry couldnt resist

Have you even seen them (teenwolf) live?

sounds choice!

you're the king blink!!

The DVD looks fricken choice!

i prefer to buy a cd than a dvd

so do I, but there are tons of CD compilations of NZ songs available... but how many collections of NZ music videos are there?

besides, if somebody doesn't want to get a DVD when they come to the show, they are more then welcome to choose any of the A LOW HUM CDs (available) back catalouge instead.

yes but videos are an art form in thier own right, not separate to the music but much more than.

hey, anyone in the auckland=>hamiltron convoy got a spare seat in their car?

the king is back!

yep a sterling night - new favourite band: TEEN WOLF!

//new favourite band: TEEN WOLF!

FUCK YES! Best rocknroll singer this side of Carter Nixon. Even my gig bitch liked them, and he hated all the other bands, which is more his style.

Also So So Modern (gb described them as "radioactive sperm with keyboards" but he just. doesn't. get it.), I now understand what all the original squee-ing is about. And they're all so cute and ickle! Young skinny white boys wearing fluorescent hoodies designed to highlight their skinniness and pastiness, a kind of pint-size art-deco mint chicks. Awesome.

//Young skinny white boys wearing fluorescent hoodies designed to highlight their skinniness and pastiness, a kind of pint-size art-deco mint chicks.

OOOOOOOh shit //And they're all so cute and ickle! too?
blink promised he would only ever bring old or ugly.

OMIGOD! Where'd you find trembling swallows? Kid's a fucken genius..

...also nice to be reminded just how awesomely awesome a song King Kong is. Indie classic, never seen the vid before, it's a classic too.

he found me.

wow..cheers to everybody coming to the partys last weekend. man, Auckland and Hamilton were a blast. I am itching to get back on tour again!!! only a few more days to go.

choice DVD blink! the DDD! video looks uber-great.... didn't get sucked int watching the wildlife one tho.. sheep running around a paddock haha thank the lord for x32 speed... maybe some mood modification required for that one...

but thanks for that

// sheep running around a paddock haha

you're missing the beauty. listen to the lyrics and changes in the song..and the action on screen. Its eerie...especially the bridge and "i wish i could stay here..stay here for days". Ta for the kind words about the ddd clip. What did you think of the video i made for "silver culture"? My fav vid to make thus far.

i liked that one more than the sheep one... those old woman had a fixation with boobie... wicked song too... i really like that i have an audio copy of 'disconnect' the NZONAIR version now too - it's phatness
hopefully my computer can rip it to my mp3 folder...

*sigh* the christchurch shows had to be the same night as the only night I could throw my "i'm finished uni" party.

I guess I'll just have to send chris along to the all ages show to get the dvd.

why don't you throw the party at the show? email me...

seriously...DO NOT miss this gig, you will be kicking yourself for ages.

SECONDED!

we'll see what I can organise.

I pity the fool that misses this gig
Teen Wolf, cute funny fuzzy, very much the small furry animal whose tummy you want to pat, until you notice there are sharp edges hiding in that thar fur.
So So Modern, I might have this absolutely wrong, but there is a hint of hip hop underpinning the punkness of this band and it's more than the fluro hoodies, berry more than not horrible.

All attempts to wax lyrical aside, this would be the best Low Hum tour that Nelson has seen, I know that we haven't seen them all, but the elements came together last night to make a lively entertaining show, and despite the weather it felt very summer.

I'm sorry, i was drunk before 4:30pm, therefore leaving the house was going to be a challenge for me
I did however send people away from my party to the all ages show, they came back raving about teen wolf.

Anyway, this morning I am nursing a headache, wondering who all the strange people were who showed up around midnight, being pleased at how clean my house looks right now, and enjoying the low hum dvd.

oh and blink, next time you're in the 03 stop by at our house for coffee/food
Its the least i can do after your generous offer.... even if i was too drunk to take it up.

you expect a
guy to pop in
for coffee &
friendly chat after
you refused to
have drunken
sex with him

hm

not likely

wow. Once again the South Island blows me away with their hospitality and mad dance styles.

I can't believe more bands don't go down there. Cheers to Hot Mamas for ruling and the sweetest eats, Arc in Dunedin for the late afternoon picnic and a big shout out!! to Warren, Fraser and everybody at Radiant Records in Timaru who put on a massive BBQ for us after the instore and got the bands so drunk that the van turned into a trance party for the whole drive back to Christchurch. Radiant Records rules!

The Creation gigs ruled and I was so chuffed to see so many young people getting along. I will definately do more AA shows. Stoked!
