BDO 06 PICKS

Yep its that time of the year again where everyone gets to pick their BDO line up. First announcement I believe is 5th Oct, apparent rumours so far are The Pixies and Tool.......

Forums: NZ Music,

I wanna see The Cure!!!

I think there was a rumour that they were supposed to be at BDO 05. You can always live and hope for next year.....

Yeah, I'm still riding on my anticipation from last year's rumour-fest

Oh, also McLusky. Are they still together?

Eels! Have they ever been to NZ? Scratch McLusky, I'm way out of date.

Who are McLusky? I'm thinking of McFly...

Heather - is nzmusic going to be running another competition for tickets based on best BDO fantasy line up??

I have no idea, you'll have to make little coughy noises in the direction of dusty or teina.

Heather - Eels might not make it to the Big Day Out, but they'll be playing the Transmission Room at the end of October...

Pretty sure The Pixies wont come down this far (though it would make my lifetime if they did)...

However having said that the two bands who would "make" a BDO for me would be...

The Pixies
Modest Mouse

There seems to be a lot of speculation in Australia that the Pixies will be touring there in some way, shape or form late this year / early next year, either on their own tour or part of BDO.

Sorry - late this year

i really dont like modest mouse

i can't put my finger on why i dont like them either.

i just dont

I love Modest Mouse, would wet my knickers if they came

i love modest mouse. i hadnt even thought about them coming. that would be awesome.

The Fits again please.

TV on the Radio. Bloc Party. LCD soundsystem. Boards of Canada in the ah.. private VIP bubble room. And the Album Leaf live. Electrelane.

TV on the Radio would be great. As well as...
DJ Shadow
Colder
Pixies
CCR
Jim O'Rourke

colder would be boring little french man sipping whisky at the bar...
yeah i been waiting years to see the pixies.
Boop Bip with Nina Nastasia. and the Sufjan Stevens orchestra. Cinematic orchestra with Harp.
48may. ha.

actually, i meant Cold Chisel

and evermore cos they'd rock the stadium. Jimmy Barnes was the first gig i ever went to . In Gisbourne.

I reckon we COULD get..

THE GO! TEAM (wicked cool)
THE DEARS (dreamy)
THE LCD SOUNDSYSTEM (wicked cool)
INTERPOL (hot demand)
FRANZ FERDINAND (new album)
MY CHEMICAL ROMANCE (sadly)
TV ON THE RADIO (wicked cool)
BLOC PARTY (cause they havent yet)
THE ARCADE FIRE (awesome but unlikely)
MODEST MOUSE (wicked cool)
THE MAGIC NUMBERS (i reckon)
BLOODHOUNDGANG (new album)

I'll go away and have another think..

THAT LIST IS AWESOME.

Why "My Chemical Romanace (Sadly) ?

BLOC PARTY

INTERPOL

THE USED (don't judge me)

OASIS

RADIOHEAD

it could happen.

interpol in the dark under the stars.....mmmmmm

you just got judged

hehehe

Dinosaur Jnr?

c'mon Lou. i owe you a beer from Sebadoh's Chch gig, way back.

They should have a Flying Nun reunion stage, and just run the gamut of all the good old bands all day long. Yeaaaaah. Although perhaps that would be better as a seperate festival. It's 25 years next year right?

i vote skeptics. mmm. maybe thats in bad taste. a David D'ath Hologram maybe?

Wouldn't mind seeing The Smiths.

Nada Surf - new album, big world tour, come here!

Radiohead
The Pixies
The Arcade Fire
The Cure
Beck
Supergrass
Espers
The MAgic Numbers
Nick Cave and The Badseeds
Bright Eyes
Television
The Dirty Three
Belle and Sebastion....

....and some awful hardcore/emo bands that i will hate

wicked, radiohead would be mad. sick. beefy. and... like totally wanking it, yo.

these all being good things of course.

BECK!!!

SUPERGRASS!!! OHHHH, SUPERGRASS!!!!!!

..and all the other stuff.

All of it! That new Dirty Three stuff's sounding mighty fine...and I'd swoon all over again if Bright Eyes came back.

yes arcade fire too. Whole band, not stripped back budget version. Want orchestras, man...

a bit of Arcade Fire would be nice. Also, some Decemberists and TV on the Radio. Yes, that would do nicely... (and as far as wild fantasies go, a bit of Bailterspace would be good)

oh, and Grandaddy!

muahahahaa i has been spreading the tool rumour like sars. or vegemite. whichever one takes your fancy.

both of them are evil no less.

work is gay and boring.

Oh, I want to see the Go! Team live as well. And Louis XIV, but only based on the two songs I've heard so I don't really care..

oct 6, i think

Arcade Fire
Wolf Parade
Broken Social Scene
Destroyer
New Pornographers
(so basically most of Canada...)

lcd soundsystem
the rapture
shesus
yeah yeah yeahs
say hi to your mom

and nz bands: i want the dilettantes, the lastimes, the crazy 88, the accelerants and the checks

Arcade Fire!!!!
Pixies
The Dears
Bright Eyes!!!!!!
Interpol
Rufus Wainwright
Bloc Party

ooooh baby...

mmmmm Rufalicious. Bring on Franz Ferdinand - the Pixies would be pee-in-yo'-pants fantastic, and Modest Mouse would take the cheese cake. I've got high hopes for our local brother, Che-Fu. His new album is genius - witty rap rhymes, epic story songs, mad mixing ... bring on the Grey Lynn lyricist.

Yes. The Fu. And The Decemberists. And Boyz II Men.

Oh my god, was BIIM totally pumping or what, Ms Fur-flaps? I think I have a crush on horse-faced Shawn. He was workin' that crotch like a pro - mmm - "Girl relax, let's go slow, I ain't got no where to go..." - and I just registered that Alfonso's surname is Morris... so is Wanya and Shawn's... amazing.

Shame 'tard. Wayna and NATHAN's last name is Morris. Because they are brothers. Shawn's brother is a horse. But yeah, he was not as ugly in person as he's appeared to be all those times (at night when you just hurt me and ran out with that other fella... baby I knew about it, I just didn't care... you just don't understand how much I love you do you? I'm here for you...) on the television.

Anyway.

Lcd Soundsystem.
The Stills
Ambulance LTD
and
Kaiser Chiefs.
