i was one of just a few people who witnessed the arrest of dea hapeta last night at the silver scroll awards in auckland.
he was there with his daughter. apparently he was causing trouble. but instead of just being kicked out by security like a normal person causing trouble, they called the cops. 4 cop cars arrived with up to 6 cops. they said you are arrested. he said but i'm here with my daughter. i asked one cop what he was being arrested for. she said 'disorderly behaviour'. dean and his daughter were hugging. and the cops dived in to separate them, she was screaming and they shoved deans face into the footpath and handcuffed him.

there was a guy taking photos. the town hall security were trying to stop him taking them, and blocking the views.

it was an extreme use of force for a simple 'it's time to go home' situation.
