well..since i am putting ojut the local knowledge guide, i would say i need to answer this.
For you guys, I would recommend The Phat Club. This is the main rock venue, with beasty big PA and Dave who runs it is a fuckn champion.
Other venues in Nelson might be The Rose and Crown, Sting Ray? (havne't been to either of these yet, but will be visiting in Sept) Yaza can have small acoustic stuff... or you can always flag Nelson and play 30 mins away in Motueka at Hot Mama's. The School of music is good for larger shows of a more "seated" atmosphere
But, for Agent, I would recommend Phat Club as the place to play. Nelson can go off over summer, but is pretty slow at the mo.
Agree with everything Blink has said, and winter really isn't a good time, we are a rugby town throu and throu, and if it aint got a plazma screen, no one cares............. but summer, oh yes summer, when everyone is home from varsty totally different story
oh and another Mot venue to check into would be the Dodgy Ref, I hear they treat bands well and has a rock atmosphere, and like hot muma's you play in the window so it has good street appeal but it is a sports bar and I don't know the set up regards PA and stuff...
I did hear that Hot Muma's is only booking Saturday nights until November
Breaks Co-op played at the Nelson ...
Breaks Co-op played at the Nelson School of Music, and Hamish said it was lovely playing there. Very intimate.
