I went home the other week to the folks and my Dad and brother were both slogging away at Suduko or Sudoku, or however people like to spell it, puzzles.
The books are selling like hot cakes.

I love how the timing of the official record, done to hundredths of a second, is measured with some guys digital wristwatch.

it's called a stackmat. designed for an american activity known as stacking cups. your hands go on two pads at the front, when you lift your hands off the clock starts, stops again when you place the cube back on the mat with sufficient force. they are expensive and accurate. the other dude is simply there to cover up the cube so the competitor cannot memorize the scramble and to inspect the solve.

let's face it, speedcubing is pretty nerdy, but no more silly than busloads of folks hunched over sudoko puzzles if you arks me. apparently the record for solving the cube using feet is 46 seconds, can't find the vid of that one what a shame!
