Bullshit, the last gig I saw you at was a shambles, the mix sounded shit, the vocals were buried down the mix and the amount of feedback coming out was almost as much as you'd expect at a tuesday night rockcradle (R.I.P.).
You're not bad at the old DJ mixing, but get a bit better before you start advertising yourself as a live sound engineer...
Burn....

Hey Mr. Negative grumpy bum,
The mix was fine and not only that, the bands were extremly happy.
Sure there was feedback at one point but it was minimal and corrected - vocalists have a part to play in their microphone technique so a bit of fader riding is to be expected.
I find your comments exaggeratted and unneccessary, there is no need to slander people who are supporting and encouraging the local music scene. I am one of these people, and i will continue to do so.
Feel free to ask for a song request next time you see me.

Good retort. Ups to you mate, keep on doing what your doing.
Live sound takes some practice, and there will always be awesome nights, and there will be shit nights. Sometimes when you are using an unfamiliar PA/gear/system setup it can be challenging. Do you use/bring your own PA or whatever is provided by the bar? I personally prefer to use own PA, but have gotten used to a few others recently, so that saves on having to cart the thing around which can be a relief sometimes. Live sound is great fun, albeit be it exhausting sometimes.
KEEP ON KEEPING ON.

Minimal? It was bloody annoying, and if you call low vocals for the gig riding the faders, maybe you want to start riding them higher?

I guess i'll go buy that Tadpole Cd i've been dry-wretching at the thought of, you know, gotta support the local scene! What I was saying, was that maybe you should get better before you start advertising yourself as a soundman and trying to "help" the local scene.

Thank You Dragonorchid,
I was using the in-house Bodega system, which I have not used before.
Schooner,
You are not going to win an award for your repeated unneccessary comments so leave it alone.
This is a classified ad, not a forum for uneducated twaddle.

sorry I didn't realise having experience on live sound rigs meant that I couldn't make comments here, and if you admit you had some trouble with the bodega soundsystem, then why are you advertising yourself (underprepared) to bands? Why not do some gigs for friends and then offer your more competant services? You might well be good then...

Anyway enough of this bitching, go out and do more gigs, thats what you need, it's not like you're hopeless.

Poor bugger, trying to get out into the industry and gets put down, musicians and the audience love to blame the sound guy when they don't know that their are limitations due to gear and bands with bad mic technique etc. To me it looks like hes keen to get out and get experence and you only get better with experence. Keep at it dude and don't let put downs get to you (but be prepared to get them)
Schooner was saying something along the ...
Schooner was saying something along the lines of him thought it was a bit rough that Mr Nix was advertising himself as a soundman without the neccesary experience, and lets face it if you're on Bodega for the first time, and a little fazed, then it's a bit rough to practice on the band's $120 or whatever it is that would be charged for a pro soundman. I agree that there's a minimum experience you need, If you read a little bit up he agrees. Don't advertise experience when it's still being learnt, but fuck! Goodluck for sound, it's a fucking blast :)

Thank you Jon, Brainlessbass, I do actually do live sound, I am not some mindless punter as has been accused. I might not be very good (i'm not making those claims) but I know what I saw, Nix is still learning and he should say that rather than passing himself off as a seasoned pro.
Fuck it's so hard not come back and jump in the mud, i must stay away, i'm bigger than this...

Your opening line reads with the word: BULLSHIT..
you were having a dig.. along with all your comments about feedback etc. which were exaggerated.
Thats just crap of you Schooner, you are also refering to the line which reads "Reliable and professional attitude" .. ATTITUDE .. what can you say of my reliable and professional attitude when it's not you that I worked with?
This means getting there on time, setting up quickly and effeciently, solving any problems, communicating with the band and making sure they are happy and know whats going on...
Working with bands in a professional manner and attitude... and thats exactly how I do it.
I've never professed to being a seasoned pro when it comes to live sound and my rates are reflected in that.
I was also helping out friends, with my ad being aimed at friends and newer bands playing smaller venues and parties etc.
Your comments on vocal level are noted, but how on earth can anyone expect to get any work or experience when you come along and throw a social turd all over my classified ad?
Great going Schooner!
I concur. That is all....
