NZ Idol is a talentless Kareoke competition....But there is 1 rising star amongst the crap! Unlike the other singers in the competition there is a girl who can not only sing but if she won could be a true NZ Idol, because she can write music..and good music at that! That is why none of the Idol competitions work, because the winner is only a good singer! They dont have what it takes to last in the industry because they are not song writers. Its the song writers who last....so help this girl out!The judges have all said she had the vocal performance of the competition so please help turn this joke of a competition into something that might have a future!Vote TERESA BERGMAN on the WILDCARD SHOW!

If She Is that Tallented It wont matter what the result oh the competition is...In fact its better if she dosent win and get stuck into a defunct record contract....
...its not as if the Judges on that programme have had supstantial overseas success....
Since when has becoming a new zealand minor celeb been classed as a success anyway...

Actually, Paul Ellis was a manager for Sony over in NY. I don't always agree with everything he says, but i have to give kudos to all 3 judges - they all have relatively full backgrounds. I think it's kinda like "giving back" in a way for them.
And i also have to disagree about the songwriters - there are many songwriters who can't sing to save themselves, and would love to have someone with a great voice sing their stuff. And personally, i work quite well when i write wiht other people, but not so good when i try to write stuff on my own.
The biggest problem with idol, is that they don't seem interested in marketing the "idol" oversea's - which i think is a shame.
I do agree with one thing - (though i think the experience would be pretty awesom) they are probably better off doing it themselves. Apparently that's one reason Ben and sony went different ways, cos they had different ideals for what songs to do.

isn't Frankie Stevens a judge? He was big-time!
He won the UK version of Opportunity Knocks six times in a row for god's sake! 3 year contract with CBS London, international tour with Shirley Bassey, contracts at some of the big Las Vegas casinos...etc. etc...

Ahh very true.....buts thats what Im saying because i believe if there was actual talent (a singer who would be famous whether or not they were in that stupid show) who won then they could change the gaybo status of the show...whether or not thats worth it i dont know...i just wish that 1 day there could be a competition where the publicity from the show would actually help the performers carrer and not send their ass into the "has been" category.....but we all have dreams

Have you actually been watching NZ Idol? Or you are just a Fairweather Johnson, happy to watch it when your friend is doing well, uninterested otherwise?
Because, yeah, there are people like Shelley and Rongo who are somewhere lacking (but who knows how they will fair once they've got used to the situation), but there are also people like Nik, Keshia and Rosita who are bloody good singers and performers. Karaoke? Nik's performance of Whitney Houston's "I'm your baby tonight" was not one done by singing along with a Whitney CD.
And how do you know that your mate is the only Idol contestant who can sing? Given that all the other contestant are generally huge music nerds, it's not unlikely that some, if not all, are involved with songwriting too.
I'd rather hear someone with a great voice sing a great song they didn't write, than hear someone with a great voice sing a shit song they wrote.
