yeah i had a jam with The Lastimes there and we clicked pretty well kinda wrote the body of a good song or what could have been a good song straight off the cuff pretty much, but with work schedules and what not it kinda didnt eventuate into anything.
Ive been trying to start a band and jamming with a couple of people, but the lack of musical talent or willingness around my area is shocking, and the only other people who are semi close are either people like yourself in and around town or on the shore.

Hey Dan! Haha, caught me out! :o)
I guess i just want to meet as many people as possible through this process, and i'm interested to know what people are doing with their music, and where it's going for them.
My forward plan is something along these lines.:
Interogate some poor people for days on end, then let them play their instruments, and finally release them. :o) (jokes, but it feels like it!)
Put a band together
Originally see what we can do with other people's music - perhaps play a few covers gigs
If we gel really well, then really start to work as a band and form a marketing strategy (i'm big on marketing, i truely think that's often the way people get better known.)
Start to perform our own stuff, and get some recorded as best as we can.
Apply for funding/competitions/etc (may as well make the most of all resources)
Make a decent few songs and a video, and put a press packet together
Keep giging during this time
Get a press packet out to anyone we can, who we think could be interested in our genre.
past that, it's about more giging and then doing some tours, and tours in auz, and eventually during this time make a full length album, release it etc.
So now your turn. :o)
jamming is good start, see if you ...
jamming is good start, see if you actaully like or suit playing with the people you are jamming with, if it works then move on to the next step, learning songs covers prob to start unless someone has original shit already written or partly written then go from there
but gota crawl before you can walk haha

When you say stand-in, do you mean that your vocalist is away for a while, or you're looking for someone permanently?

PA , mics etc? Nobody want to be a Band taxi? Where do you practise ?
Just working on some Killing Heidi covers for a party coming up. Is that the sort of thing you are into or are you more mellow than female rock.
