Forums: The Bar,

Totally uninspired and unoriginal. Lose the lame arsed emo-cum-american- accent -shit -
I know this sounds nasty, - but this is what you get when you're gonna offer it up for criticism like this.

If I was an A&R scout I'd be saying, what's new or interesting or original about this band? As a demo it sounds like some kind of Simple Plan type deal. Fuck that - that scene is dying in the arse like horsefly infested ghonnorea and rightly so.

The "hardcore" screams sound half arsed and forced, the singing sounds out of tune, and insincere.

Try listening to some music as far removed from what you do as possible, strive to be original and honest.
There's more to it than having a load of pedals and new gear (which you guys seem to be pretty keen to display) - none of which translates in your recording bro -

This comes from the point of view of someone who thinks boys with keychains and brand new expensive tattoos who are "emotional" are a bunch of talentless, vain frauds with not a sliver of originality.
I think people who push the American accent thing are frauds too.
Is that how you talk? You don't have to sound like Fred Dagg either (and force a NZ accent), but I think you're wearing your influences on your sleeve a little too obviously.
Anyways, that's just me - and you asked for an opinion - best of luck either way.

So you don't like the genre, thats cool. And you're right, this is what you get when asking for opinions. Cheers bro.

yeah ,what he said

Nastiness aside - I appreciate your dignified answer.

Hope things work out good for you whatever you do.

it wasn't as bad as the above comments, the instrumentation was quite nice. pretty generic, but then, good things take time, you'll define your own sound eventually

vocal wise, i think if you're gonna go the emo/post-hardcore route, then you really have to scream as though you're shitting a brick, it sounds so much better when you're putting your heart into it..

and sing in whatever accent you want, if you want to sound american (and lets face it, a lot of your influences will be american) then do so...whatevers comfortable...kiwis shouldn't be so fucking precious about their accent...

I agree. But the accent is precious, man- I miss it so!
