Just interesteded in what cars you peoples driveing and what car you would like to own.Me,I own a 1992 Mazda sentia(929) v6 3litre leather interior.I want a hummer, sweet sweet hummer

Forums: The Bar,

I choose different wheels depending on where I want to go. Usually the Nissan Scorpion SLF 1800 Series, or the MAN 243. Occasionally I'll take the Mercedes 305 for a spin.

so youre bus drivers and you haul ass for a living.what a job

Well, I may "haul ass" for a living, but I sure as hell wouldn't call myself a bus driver.

Neither, and I don't haul anything if I can help it.

haull away, haul away, haul away....

ah.I remember now,new laws ,we have to call you 0800 cheap labour, dependant.I agree the term bus driver really was not sutable.

Yeah, all people who either a) make sure that they live close enough to the things that they want without needing to drive there or b) care about the environment or c) drink too much too often to want to be in charge of a motor vehicle are poor people.

dont diss Heather .She cant help it ,its an std employmentally challenged.

Um, a subtle hint: imlost, are there other people on a bus?

I wish I didn't have a car. I held off for a long time.

I remember reading a document from the UNEP that said the two most urgent man-made threats to the environment were cars and red meat. I was going pretty well there for a bit...

well he is driving a 3 litre V6 . . . . $70 per week is no sweat with an engine like that.

sometimes it pushes the $110 mark and that aint fun.But on the plus side my dad pays for the fuel,I love that fuel card

ahh so you're one of those . . . .

yesss. An underaged trippn mofucker.Only on weekends, i have to go to work during weekdays

red meat.why red meat?

cows. methane. forest clearance.

//I wish I didn't have a car// yeah right.if your car broke tomorrow youd be fucked.

//if your car broke tomorrow youd be fucked.

If by "fucked" you mean wealthier, then yes. Although his wee mazda is probably economical and old enough that it might *actually* be cheaper than a bus. But'd be a close run thing.
Owning a car is the best way to loose money.

//Owning a car is the best way to loose money.

Is it the best way to loose women as well? Cos maybe I should buy one...

I would prefer not to need a car either... much as I love driving (and I've just started to get the hang of parallel parking! Yay!).

pre-Familia Mazdas are the best, economically speaking.

we used to own one, man it used to run on petrol fumes. for road trips, big extended runs, it was so cheap to run. trouble was with the body, of course. the engines in those beasties run forever, but it's so hard to find a replacement panel for something that's rusted - because the engines run so long, any body parts are hugely in demand. so sad sending it off to the wreckers ... such a wee workhorse.

but yeah, we've never found a car as cheap to run, a car comparable in the long run with catching the bus (especially now that parking prices have hit the roof in Dunners).

// yeah right.if your car broke tomorrow youd be fucked.

You know a lot about my circumstances.

And yeah, methane and forest clearance are the big ones re: production and consumption of red meat, plus the relative impact in comparison to other ways of getting fed.

The Surrealist Banana MkII, my second car, was a Mazda 323 stationwagon. Soooo underpowered. 2nd gear going up the kilmog at about 35km, but so freaking economical it was ridiculous. It was only running on 3 cylinders for a while, and it still didn't use much gas!!

I use about $100 a week on fuel.$70 for the car and $30 for me.

??????? $70???? that's all types of wrong. how far do you drive each week? or are you stuck in traffic?

I drive a wickedly powerful 5 door Toyota Corolla - 1.3litre. It goes just as legally fast as your mazda and it uses about a quarter of the gas. It also has a sweet CD player and enough room for my drum kit. It is a real mans car in that things are still simple enough for the common man to fix without making it look like a school kid has been trying to make modifications, and parts a real cheap. What else do you need?

I took those plastic things off the wheels and it now goes real fast and looks real mean!

I also drive a sooped up scooter - 80cc's of pure vibrating pleasure...

you must be racking up the speeding tickets with that thing

no

alright then have fun with your vibrator.

always

One day I would like to own a jaguar.

Right now I would settle for a decent sedan/hatchback with power steering, central locking and a cassette player. I've been surfing 'how to buy a car' sites this morning... it's currently in the 'too hard' basket, filed under 'ask Dad for loan', annotated 'not likely'.

try trademe.co.nz
I bought my car from there cheap as shit.

thanks, I've been browsing a little but I still need more capital. Plus I have no idea about what to look for re mileage etc. How much is too much? What is good?

150 000km is good for a second hand car under $2000.all depends on how much you want to spend.what you want to spend?

Under $2000 suits me.

theres some good shit there, toyotas are reliable and cheap to maintain

Between my girlfriend and I we own 3 cars, one each and one we own together:

My car - a crappy Ford that's no longer road legal or worthy (was my baby), what I need now is a decent front lawn to park it on :)
Her car - some flashy girly bubble car that no real man would be caught dead in (yeah I'm just jealous that her car works and mine doesn't)
Our car - 99' Mitstubishi 2.5 V6 VR4 Galant. . . But it's getting expensive to run now, and although this is 'our' car, I'm more than comfortable with letting my girlfriend pay for half of it and at the same time not letting her drive it :) what I'm not comfortable with is when she gets up earlier than me and takes this car for the day leaving me with her poofta mobile

what I really really want is a phat custom chopper (with no pillion seat) . . . . suppose I need to get a bike license first though . . . . ohh or an old chevy type coupe or a old Ford F1 type pick up that I could turn into a hot rod . . . . . mmmmmmm hot rods . . . .

When your girl does that to you just go all queer eye for the straight guy on her.poofta mobile haha

1987 Ford Lazer. Gold exterior, tan velour interior. 3 speed automatic, really gets revving at about 80k.

95 honda accord station wagon - dark blue. Was a neccessary "upgrade" from my Prelude to cart my bass + amp around. On the + side its got lots of room and its the kind of car that'll probably never get pulled over by the cops. On the down side Im driving a "dad car" and I don't even have kids.

What I want to be driving? I want my Prelude back, and maybe an NSX aswell if I win lotto.

1989 1.6l NZ new toyota Carolla.

Had it since i was 17 & i'm now nearly 25. how pathetic.

1985 Toyota Corolla Hatchback Nz new, had it pre -ordered, and she finally died in 2002, the day before she was booked into have her cooling system over hauled
now I have a jap import 1997Toyota Carolla stationwagon.. this shows lack of imagination.

I'm probably going to spring for something like that too.....and enivously watch the rich kids driving BMWs...sigh.....

good thing about a carolla is that it'll just go forever. and they're cheap as chips to run.

-1990 Toyota Carib Sprinter Height Control Touring Special (or something like that, it's ridiculously long)
-1991 Honda CD250
-1994 Bauer Extreme System V

The first is a 4WD station wagon (*not* an SUV), the second a mb, and the third an mtb. Ironically, I paid more for the MTB than my first two cars.

yeah, my mtb cost more than my first couple cars too. I have a Specialized FSR. Its not bad as far as bikes go, though I'm starting to wish I purchased a hard tail - so much easy for hill climbing. My FSR seems to only excel on flat single track (like that pine forest in Chch).

Mine was originally entirely rigid. But back then entry level front suspension was pretty high, and full was in the vicinity of 5k. I got some nice front forks a couple of years later, but have always been happy to have a hard tail. That said, occasionally I wish I'd got an aluminium frame... although perhaps I would have snapped it by now! I used to joke about it being the most expensive steel frame on the market.
I have no complaints about it, however. It still rides smooth as. the mechanics are sooo sweet. Recently, I switched bikes (briefly) with a friend while out and about, and couldn't believe how much extra effort it took to make theirs role v. mine.

1992 Nissan Maxima 3.0i. I've had it for over 10 years now ... great car but not the sort of ride you'd want to pimp. I also have a 1989 Mazda 323 GT and an Isuzu Fargo diesel van but they both currently reside with my boys in Auckland so I only get to drive them when I visit now.

Dream car for me is a Trans Am Firebird ... red, with shiny wheels and lots of noise!

firebird.now thats a mans car
