What about Fur Patrol?? I was surprised they weren't nominated, they're brilliant live. Julia has way more stage presence than most nz frontpersons, imho...

Bands that make me pee my trousers when I catch them live would be FUCE, ORKID, CLOWNDOG and the MAESTRO COOLTONES, all up and coming talent from Christchurch, well worth checking out if you ever grace the garden city. Oh I think Julia Deans is nothing short of extrodinary live, especially when doing a solo set, she has that stage presence thing down.

How could you over look the best Goddamn live band in all the land.
We are talking live here.....ie the presence of the individual or band on the stage and its relation to the crowd and music. Julia Deans may very well hit the right notes when she has to, sway a bit and tap her toes.......but stage presence????!!!!!
I don't think so.
Im talking Rock stances, P.A. climbing, puckered lips and booty shaken presence, this is the Datsuns live act encapsulated, they could be playing swamp core banjo fusion (maybe they do?) and would still have the crowd beggin for more.
The Datsuns are sooo good live their recorded material pales in comparison.
When I hear a band live I want to see energy and interaction, I dont just want a replay of their record (I can do that at home) but a visual that compliments the music.

Will definatly be there (bodega)........Two Lane Black Top will be playing Valve next Thursday the 13th of Sep, Valve again on the 20th with Vocoder and Indigo on the 11th of Oct 2001..................p.s. we are also a thigh slappin good live band.
