World of Warcraft is supposed to be way better, Im playing it right now, you have to spend $99 to get the CD key to create an account, bit it's worth it.
no way, WOW is crap compared to Guild wars.
With WOW you pay for the cd and cd key ($100) then gotta pay a monthly fee ($20).
With Guild wars its a straight up cost of cd and key (80) and no monthly fee :-)
i honestly could not be bother paying a monthly fee on a game that I have BOUGHT!!!!! I am mean if it was a free download, i would pay but not when I had to go to EB/Central Park and buy it
they have to pay for ongoing maintenance of the servers and additional features somehow. would you rather have ads? trolls with Pepsi logos on their shields? maybe you could get virtual jobs?
Because Guild Wars don't have to employ a huge team of people constantly running events, making updates and new areas, and generally keeping everything cool. WoW is a way bigger operation- it's like comparing it to Diablo II, all they ever have to do for that is keep the servers running, fix security bugs, and put out the occasional patch every couple of years. They don't need to employ a big team, so they don't need to charge heaps for it. Simple.
It's a bit cheap of them to charge for the CD AND a monthly thing for WoW, though.
