Did anyone else read that great article in the Dominion Post a couple of weeks back about how isn't it lucky that Schapelle's pretty (well, that's subjective I guess) so that she gets all this attention, wheras there are plenty of older Australian women jailed for life in Indonesia with no one fighting for them? The article went on to talk about how there was a black woman solidier kidnapped along with Jessica Lynch and how no one talks about her, and how she's only getting 30% of her pay rate now while Jessica's getting 80% and lots and lots from books and movies. And then the article talked about how parents are much less likely to do up the seatbelts of their ugly kids, and how they let them wander around more...

Did anyone see " its great to be Micheal Jackson" a couple of weeks ago on C4,
they reckon even with him oweing an estimated $300 million he is stil worth over $500 million, which is fucken outrageous, he owns the rights to every beatles song written and every song he has recorded too which according to them, it is unusual for an artist to own the full rights to their own songs
His zoo, costs like a million a year to maintain and the pet trainer to gets like $1000 a day to work there with the animals and stuff, its insane how much money this guy has,
apparently he is also looking to by a small village in like Italy or france or somewhere that will cost a cool $40 million,
// Did anyone see " its great to be Micheal Jackson" a couple of weeks ago on C4,
//they reckon even with him oweing an estimated $300 million he is stil worth over $500 million
Not that I would be one to challenge the veracity of C4's news presentation, but er a few corrections.
He owns a *half* share of the Beatles catalogue, not the full share.
Further, while the figures you present indicate a net worth of $500 million you're missing one important facet. That is, he spends more money (35mill p.a.) than he earns (11-15mill p.a.) apparently, not even including the interest on his debt.
So scaling it down to a normal person. Imagine you get $500/week from your job, and then spend $500 on rent, pizza, liquor, and other expenses, BUT THEN also have $5000 on a credit card, and have repayments on that. You could sell your 2 grand car, but it's still not going to get you out of the hole. Basically, he can't afford his lifestyle, but I suspect is unwilling to change his lifestyle. From what I understand on this morning's news is that even if he sold the rights to his own music and the beatles, he'd be a bit more solvent, but have no income....

It was actaully an MTV show not a C4 news,
I thougth he owned only half the rights but they said he owns the full rights ( he owns the rights to over 300 beatles songs so if thats only half the rights how many songs did the beatles write?) he bougth them for $50million now they are worth over $500 million according to this show, so who do you believe?
and yes he does spend more than his income but i think they took that all into account when they said he owes the bacnk of america around 300 millions US dollars, I could be wrong because I have no idea where they came up with that figure, but they estimate he is still worth over half a billion dollars,
So I duno go call the " its good to be" people to talk them about it, Im only relaying what I heard opn the tv show
Yeah. That's why I was dissing it. Apart from presenters reporting stuff, it buys in, presumably somewhat old MTV footage.
//he owns the rights to over 300 beatles songs so if thats only half the rights how many songs did the beatles write?
Reading Comprehension. I said he owned a half share; not a full share of half of the songs. If you have a half share of a car, it doesn't mean you only own the left hand side, and not the right...
The MTV show doesn't include the financial details from the trial. However, Interest on 300 million dollars is more than the 11million he makes each year (probably about double). Assuming he's worth 500million, and that "worth" earns him 11 million each year(e.g., his house doesn't make him money, beatles songs do). So he sells 300million of stuff, which would presumably reduce his income. So suddenly he's got no debt, but less income, so he's still fucked.
he doesn't earn "interest", he earns mechanical royalties, not just from the beatles, but from anything in his 50% share of ATV/Sony publishing (sly and the family stone, some elvis..etc...). He also owns his own publishing which is worth a fuck of a lot also... just doens't earn as much as it used to.
////Reading Comprehension. I said he owned a half share; not a full share of half of the songs. If you have a half share of a car, it doesn't mean you only own the left hand side, and not the right...
No no I read that just fine, and I said he OWNS the rights to over 300 beatles songs, NOT a half share A FULL SHARE i.e they are his, he bought them in full 100% he owns them and NO one else does. so he OWNS over 300 beatles songs,
If you pay 50 million dollars for something You'd expect to own them in Full NOT just own a share in them,
After Mechanical Licences 'Songwriter' should read, 'The owner of the Master Tape' ie.whoever paid for the recordings to be done.
After Synchronization and Print Licences 'Songwriter' should read 'Publisher'
//No no I read that just fine, and I said he OWNS the rights to over 300 beatles songs, NOT a half share A FULL SHARE i.e they are his, he bought them in full 100% he owns them and NO one else does. so he OWNS over 300 beatles songs,
In case you didn't read H's link... he used to own 100%, but then entered a joint venture with Sony. So seeing as we're now speaking in CAPITALS, that means he owns FIFTY PERCENT, which last I checked WAS HALF.
Secretly, I prefer italics to RANDOM CAPITALISATION, but most of all, I like fact checking, rather than the propogation of bullshit. Especially where aforementioned fact checking should only take 30 odd seconds. That said, I also prefer multiple independant sources. There's nothing like roux, thousand island, and jus.
I have two different sources that argue that salad dressing is a subset of sauce, being those sauces used primarily for using with rabbit food. Saucy wench.
//In case you didn't read H's link... he used to own 100%, but then entered a joint venture with Sony. So seeing as we're now speaking in CAPITALS, that means he owns FIFTY PERCENT, which last I checked WAS HALF.
Well there you go then, obviously your info was more up to date than the shows info I saw was.
Please take note that if you read a fuller version of that news item, it appears that he has bought the other half of the catalogue that he didn't own to help with his current debt situation in the last month.
^^ yes I found that strange too, I mean I always believed guilty or not he was going to walk, but its just weird that he was not even found guilty of a minor charge,
kind of like Peter Ellis, ok some of the stories given by those kids could well have been made up, but there must have been *something* he did to make them even come up with that stuff.... getting into hot water here...I wouldn't to say this if he really was innocent.......
what about the 'Crucible' effect? have you ever read that play or seen it performed? witch-hunts, hysteria based on a "something" - perhaps your "smoke indicating fire" "something" - but not actual coupling with the devil, the "something" the hysterical people were really afraid of.
wasn't there something in the Ellis case where some of the children said he "buried" one of the boys (an imaginary boy, that is) in the sandpit, deep, forever, etc. i don't know enough about the case, but it seems plausible to me that that "something" was that Ellis was male (there sure aren't enough male kindegarten teachers, fo' sure) and secondly, his sexuality. = heightened sense of "something", but not always the "coupling with the devil" "something".
One of the parents had been reading a book about 'Satanic Ritual Abuse' which they then handed around the rest of the parents. The parents then asked the children loaded questions, and basicaly filled their heads with ritualistic bullshit. Hence the stories kept getting more and more bizzare, ie, that there was a group of men taking photos for a child pornography ring, that their were sharpened sticks going into bottoms, children locked in trapdoors.
Same thing happened to that guy in "Capturing the Friedmans" and in around a dozen other cases in the US.
//kind of like Peter Ellis, ok some of the stories given by those kids could well have been made up, but there must have been *something* he did to make them even come up with that stuf
Either that or it was something about the phrasing of the questions that encouraged them to make that stuff up...
(the latter definitely played a role in some of the weirder stuff....)
That's pretty much what one of the jurors said. But that juror obviously "he's been doing it all day ref" wasn't enough to convict Jacko of those specific charges.
As for Peter Ellis, if he's guilty then at least one if not all the other female kindy teachers working for him are guilty too. Like you said "where there's smoke, there's fire". It was Christchurch, however and I wouldn't be surprised if that jury convicted him after finding out what high school he went to.
How come the media milk the whole case for every detail yet you never hear MJ stuff on air and almost never on TV either? There hasn't really been Jackson on air since the early nineties when he financially settled the first child molestation issue. Its really tabloidy and kinda shows how shitsville the mainstream press can get to sell papers. If you think, in some way, that Michael Jackson is disturbed, unusually asexual or removed from society then raise your hand. My life is more important than his its just that as a red blooded male I refuse to dance in public. Over and out.
